10 Best WWE Feuds (With Perfect Final Matches)

There have been many incredible feuds over the years in WWE which have enthralled fans with great storytelling, intensity, and more, but sometimes the final match doesn’t quite nail it, and sometimes feuds simply go on for too long, going past a match which would have been the perfect feud ender. For example, the story between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels seemed to wrap up perfectly in 2010, only for WWE to reopen the book in 2018 for a travesty of a match.

28 Best WWE Matches Of All Time, Ranked

WWE has played host to countless classics over the years, with these matches having earned the right to at least be in the conversation of best ever.

Sometimes though, WWE feuds finish up in the best way possible, not being returned to in the years following to ruin a perfect finish. The following are the best examples of this throughout WWE history.

Trish Stratus & Lita Wrapped Things Up With A Great Battle

Throughout the Ruthless Aggression Era especially, Trish Stratus and Lita were WWE’s two best women’s wrestlers who, despite a lot of awful booking, managed to become legends in such a tough era for women’s wrestling.

Their feud was the highlight of the division without a shadow of a doubt, and their final match facing off ended in the best way possible, having yet another strong match as Stratus said goodbye to her career as a full-time performer, standing tall as WWE Women’s Champion.

The Final Match Between Roman Reigns & Brock Lesnar Ended Things On The Right Note

Roman Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE SummerSlam 2022

Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar (SummerSlam 2022) 7

Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar was not a perfect feud, but when they returned to renew their hatred in 2021, things were a lot better. With Roman Reigns now the “Tribal Chief” and Brock Lesnar as a babyface, not to mention Paul Heyman being in the middle of the pair, the last chapters of the rivalry were fresh, fun, and red hot.

Things all finally came to an end at SummerSlam 2022, where the pair had one of their best matches together in a chaotic, wild Last Man Standing match. Lesnar upending the ring with a tractor was a notable highlight.

John Cena & AJ Styles Completed Their Trilogy In A Perfect WWE Title Match

AJ Styles Vs. John Cena – WWE Royal Rumble 2017

In 2016, AJ Styles’ debut year in WWE was elevated thanks to defeating John Cena twice, before then going on to win the WWE Championship. Cena came looking for redemption, this time with the WWE Title on the line.

At Royal Rumble 2017, they wrapped up their trilogy, completing it with a thrilling final match which was one of the best of the whole year. In an interesting note, they didn’t leave the ring once during this bout.

Brock Lesnar & Goldberg Went At 100mph In Their Final Match

Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE WrestleMania 33

Brock Lesnar defeated Goldberg (WrestleMania 33) 3

After a terrible match at WrestleMania 20, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar sought to redeem themselves in 2016 and 2017, coming back with a fantastic second chapter and making sure their feud sits on the right side of history.

Their various interactions were great, and it all led up to one final match at WrestleMania 33. When it comes to matches under five minutes, there might be no better in WWE history than this. It went at a crazy pace, with the pair hitting each other with their biggest moves. It was a chaotic, hard-hitting match and it was the perfect way to close out a successful return to their rivalry.

The Intercontinental Title Was Up For Grabs Between Shawn Michaels & Razor Ramon

Shawn Michaels Vs. Razor Ramon – WWE SummerSlam 1995

Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon battled several times in the early to mid 1990s, elevating the Intercontinental Championship and each becoming bigger stars in the process. Their final battle took place at SummerSlam 1995 in a rematch of their classic WrestleMania 10 ladder match.

It might not have been as good as their first, but it was still a very strong showing from both men, who managed to live up to expectations for another memorable battle over WWE’s midcard belt.

Undertaker Vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE Hell In A Cell 2015

Whether it be in 2002 or 2015, The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar managed to create magic (lets ignore their WrestleMania 30 match). In 2015, they redeemed their previous poor match with a pair of emphatic fights, the last of which came inside Hell In A Cell.

This match felt like a throwback Cell match, with blood, gritty moments, and brutal moments which made it feel as though the two wanted to kill each other. It allowed the pair to bid farewell to their iconic rivalry.

Shawn Michaels & Chris Jericho Battled In One Of The Best Ladder Matches Ever

Chris Jericho Vs. Shawn Michaels – WWE No Mercy 2008

In multiple eras, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels displayed top tier chemistry as rivals. In 2008, things escalated to highly personal and violent proportions, leading to bloody battles. Amidst this, Jericho got his hands on the World Heavyweight Championship, heightening the stakes for the final match of their feud.

Jericho & Michaels tore the house down in one of, if not the best ladder match in WWE history, telling a tremendous story during a match that featured a lot of drama, great use of ladders, and an authentic sense of dislike.

For All The Controversy, The Ending Of Shawn Michaels Vs. Bret Hart Was Perfect

Bret Hart Vs. Shawn Michaels – WWE Survivor Series 1997

Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart are two of the greatest rivals of all time, and despite hating each other they had fantastic chemistry. Their match at Survivor Series 1997 will go down in infamy for the Montreal Screwjob more than it will for technical class, but in truth, it was the perfect way to end their feud.

Controversy, pure hatred, and the wildest night of either man’s career was the best way to sum up the fantastic feud they had.

Undertaker Sent Edge To Hell In Their Final Match

Undertaker Vs. Edge – WWE SummerSlam 2008

Final Match Number Of Televised Singles Matches
Undertaker defeated Edge (SummerSlam 2008) 8

Throughout 2007 and 2008, The Undertaker and Edge had a phenomenal feud which dominated SmackDown’s main event scene. Every match was great, and the feud developed into an instant classic. At SummerSlam 2008 they did battle inside Hell In A Cell, which served as the perfect place to end their rivalry.

This match was fantastic, serving as the perfect way to take the Cell into the PG Era with several great spots, intensity, and inventive moments. After winning, Undertaker chokeslammed Edge through the ring, before flames ignited through the mat.

Steve Austin Vs. The Rock – WWE WrestleMania 19

The Rock defeated Steve Austin (WrestleMania 19) 10

One of WWE’s greatest ever feuds also had one of the best final matches. At WrestleMania 19, after years and years of battling, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock had one last match and it was full of great character work, all their greatest hits, and a wonderful showcase of the seamless chemistry they’d built after so many years of working alongside one another.

In their third WrestleMania match, The Rock finally managed to score a win over Austin on the grandest stage, something he’d failed to do in the two times prior. This would also be Austin’s final match for 19 years.
