Crown Jewel 2024 is the next event on WWE’s premium live event calendar, with the promotion returning to Saudi Arabia for the second time this year after the King & Queen Of The Ring event. It was announced by Triple H at Bad Blood 2024 that Crown Jewel would now host a yearly pairing of world champion vs. world champion matches in the men’s and women’s division to determine the 2024 Crown Jewel Champions, offering some insight at what we might see on the card.
The Hell in a Cell match had become a joke, but thanks to Triple H, CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre delivered one of the best at Bad Blood.
With WWE’s major shows only hosting around five matches per card, not all of the following predictions will make it onto the show, though these predictions offer a selection of potential matchups that fans can expect to see on the card.
Jey Uso recently procured the Intercontinental Championship, and when looking ahead to Bad Blood 2024, Dominik Mysterio feels like someone who would make sense as a challenger.
Uso has been flirting with Rhea Ripley on RAW, which has played some mind games with Ripley’s ex, Mysterio. These issues are not finished by any means, and with Mysterio’s continued surge in heat from the crowd, a singles match on a PLE would be more than deserved.
Carmelo Hayes Will Be LA Knight’s Next US Title Challenger
Knight’s Reign May Continue At Crown Jewel 2024
- Hayes & Knight have had issues for months
- Hayes recently picked up a big win over AJ Styles
- Knight has offered him a title match
LA Knight have proven to be a fighting United States Champion since defeating Logan Paul at SummerSlam, defeating the likes of Andrade, Santos Escobar, and Ludwig Kaiser thus far in this reign. His next challenger will be Carmelo Hayes.
Whilst this could very well take place on an episode of SmackDown, recent criticism of WWE’s lack of black male representation on PLEs could lead to Hayes challenging Knight at Crown Jewel.
Rhea Ripley Will Have To Go Through Raquel Rodriguez
Rodriguez Attacked Ripley At Bad Blood
- Rodriguez joined forces with Liv Morgan
- Ripley now have a hurdle to overcome before winning back her title
- They have proven to have good chemistry in the past
The title feud between Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez in 2023 was pretty underwhelming, but their battles in NXT proved that they can tear the house down. Giving them a chance to do this on a PLE like Crown Jewel would be beneficial to both women, particularly for Rodriguez, who needs a breakout main roster performance.
A big Last Woman Standing match or something similar could steal the show on this PLE.
The New Day Could Be Lined Up For A Tag Team Title Match
The New Day’s Storyline May Be Leading Up To Another Title Reign
- Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston have had many issues lately
- The storyline could lead to a tag title match
- It has been a while since men’s tag titles were on a PLE
When it comes to PLEs in 2024, the reduced match cards have only been reserved for the most interesting storylines. The New Day’s recent struggles have been a big highlight of RAW, and they have no doubt earned a spot back on a PLE.
There were plenty of takeaways from Bad Blood, but key among them were the returns of Goldberg and The Rock to WWE. Are they back for good?
Trying to make amends and going back after tag team gold could be the next step, and they would be a good choice to dethrone the bland champions of Finn Balor & JD McDonagh at Crown Jewel.
Randy Orton & Kevin Owens Will Have Issues With One Another
Owens Turned Heel And Attacked Cody Rhodes
- Orton will defend his friend Rhodes against Owens
- Even though Owens might be justified, he and Orton will do battle
- They’ve never had a singles match on PPV
Incredibly, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens have never had a proper feud nor have they battled in singles action on a PPV or PLE. Following Owens’ heel turn and attack on Cody Rhodes, now is as good a time as any to pull the trigger on this match.
Whilst a heel turn might soon be in the offing for Orton, he may defend Rhodes’ honor for now and take on Owens whilst Rhodes is busy in his champion vs. champion match at Crown Jewel.
Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill Will Defend Their Gold Against Damage CTRL
Iyo Sky & Kairi Sane Have Been Pursuing The Champions
- Sky defeated Belair in singles action
- Damage CTRL have gained momentum by beating the Unholy Union
- Cargill & Belair have been featured regularly on WWE PLEs
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships have been featured more regularly on big shows than ever before, so there is a strong chance that they will be showcased at Crown Jewel.
The most likely challengers for Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill are Iyo Sky & Kairi Sane of Damage CTRL, who have made their title intentions very clear recently. Some big victories including a win from Sky over Belair have firmly made them number one contenders.
Roman Reigns And Solo Sikoa Will Fight To Be Called Tribal Chief
Everything Is Building To A Singles Match Between These Two
- Reigns returned as a babyface and targeted Solo Sikoa
- Reigns & Rhodes defeated Sikoa & Fatu at Bad Blood
- A singles match in Saudi Arabia feels like the next logical step
Given that Roman Reigns is arguably WWE’s biggest star, he will likely be factored into the Crown Jewel card in Saudi Arabia, especially after missing the last Saudi show earlier this year. Although it might be painfully slow and plodding, fans should expect to see Reigns battle Solo Sikoa in singles action.
The title of Tribal Chief can be on the line here, likely ending with some sort of shenanigans and a win for Sikoa, laying the path to Survivor Series and WarGames.
Seth Rollins Wants Revenge On Bronson Reed
Rollins Returned To RAW To Attack Reed
- Reed is WWE’s next big monster heel
- A match with Rollins could be a star-making moment
- A stipulation could be attached to a PLE match
Over the last couple of months, Bronson Reed has been one of the standout names on RAW, becoming more over by the week. After being laid out by Reed on the RAW following SummerSlam, Seth Rollins recently returned to enact some revenge.
Their issues will continue, resulting in what will likely be a star-making match and moment for Reed. Battling with someone like Rollins on a PLE would be a huge deal for him, so this has a high chance of taking place at Crown Jewel. Last Man Standing, a Street Fight, or Falls Count Anywhere would be suitable for a match like this too.
The WWE Women’s Champion Faces Off With The Women’s World Champion
The Inaugural Women’s Crown Jewel Champions Will Be Determined
- Fans should expect a heel vs. heel matchup
- Nia Jax is the WWE Women’s Champion
- Liv Morgan is the Women’s World Champion
When it comes to champion vs. champion matches, such as at Survivor Series over the years, WWE haven’t shied away from running heel vs. heel or babyface vs. babyface matches, so expect to see Nia Jax and Liv Morgan each remain as world champion heading into the show.\
Triple H introduced a new championship during Bad Blood, but the tease of a potential dream match stole the thunder from the announcement.
Given the hatred on display for Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan from fans, Jax may play the de facto babyface in the match, perhaps even beating down Mysterio at ringside, which would provide a fun dynamic to an otherwise unimpressive matchup.
The Undisputed WWE Champion Will Face The World Heavyweight Champion
The Men’s Crown Jewel Champion Will Be Decided
- Stars of RAW and SmackDown will collide
- Cody Rhodes is the current WWE Champion
- Gunther is the current World Heavyweight Champion
As of this writing, Cody Rhodes and Gunther are WWE’s two men’s world champions, both having largely dominant reigns since getting their hands on their respective gold. It is very likely that they will each remain champion ahead of Crown Jewel, resulting in this first-time-ever matchup.
They do have some history, as Rhodes eliminated Gunther last to win his first Royal Rumble match in 2023, so there are some scores to settle. Gunther & Rhodes are arguably the number one full time babyface and heel in WWE right now, so this match makes a ton of sense.
