Jannik Sinner Addresses Speculations About Secret Marriage to Girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya

Jannik Sinner, amid his busy tennis schedule, has had to set the record straight about his personal life after rumors that he secretly got married to girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya started spreading like wildfire on the internet. The gossip started in Italy after a local magazine reported that the US Open champ entertained the possibility of marriage to Kalinskaya following his win at Flushing Meadows this year.

Sinner is currently in action at the Shanghai Masters, where he has reached the Round of 16. Before this, he played at the China Open, losing in the final to Carlos Alcaraz. Also joining him at the China Open was his girlfriend, with the Russian falling in the Round of 16. Kalinskaya, this week, has shifted focus to the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open.

With the duo thus occupied in the Asian swing, tabloids in Italy started running with the news of their secret marriage, unconfirmed by either source. Thankfully, most of the fans on social media were quick to suspect the veracity of the rumors, even slamming the magazines for speculating on the development.

Meanwhile, Sinner was asked at his recent press conference in Shanghai about confirmation, a question that got a hearty laugh out of the two-time Grand Slam champion. He quickly dismissed the rumor, stating that nothing of that sort has happened and that it was all false news.

“It was new also for me, to be honest,” Jannik Sinner said with a laugh. “No, I didn’t ask, and nothing, nothing happened. I just read the details a little bit that it happened after US Open, but it’s all false, false news. Thank you,” he added.

Sinner then turned his attention to the on-court action, a three-setter win against Tomas Martin Etcheverry to secure his passage to the next round. The World No. 1 was glad to get past a rather tough opponent and looked forward to improving as the tournament went on.

“Yeah, I mean, it was, for sure, a tough match. In moments you have to be very, very careful in what you do, but obviously it was a fun match, I really enjoyed it, to play out there,” Jannik Sinner said.
“Also, the match before mine was a very long one also, and also mine was long, so I’m just happy to be part of these kind of matches as always and, you know, it’s, for sure, was something good,” he added.

Jannik Sinner’s girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya has also had to clear the air about their marriage rumors. The Russian took to Instagram on Sunday to set the record straight, writing:

“To clarify things about fake rumors: this is not true. Thank you for all your congratulations. False start.”

Sinner and Kalinskaya have been dating since the start of this year, with the Italian confirming their relationship at the French Open. The pair have since then been spotted regularly at each other’s matches, most recently at the China Open.
