A rift has formed between Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes – with reports claiming the previously inseparable pair now opting to shun each other.

The 34-year-old Wildest Dreams singer and 29-year-old sport star Brittany struck up a firm friendship over the past year thanks to the fact their other halves play for the same NFL team. Taylor has now been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 34, for a full year – while Brittany has been married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, 28, since 2022.

As the Kansas City Chiefs romped their way to Super Bowl victory during the 2023 season, Taylor and Brittany – who is herself a USA women’s soccer team athlete – were spotted embracing and celebrating matches together. But that all appears to have changed for the 2024 season.

On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs had their first match of the season and sports fans noticed straight away that the ladies were nowhere near each other while cheering the Chiefs to a 27-20 victory against the Baltimore Ravens from inside a crowded suite at Arrowhead Stadium. It is being suggested that Brittany’s support for 2024 US presidential hopeful, and 45th president of the USA, Donald Trump has caused a split between the women.

TMZ reports: “Taylor and Brittany [were] having a blast, but just not with each other. Taylor [was] cheering on Travis with others – including Travis’ parents at some points – while Brittany separately pose[d] for a smiling photo with [her daughter Sterling Skye]. The two were once inseparable at Chiefs games … [in 2023] Taylor and Brittany repeatedly hung out together in the same suite, hugging and dancing.”

The report hypothesised: “Taylor has not yet endorsed a candidate in the 2024 election, she has previously accused Donald Trump… of ‘stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism,’ among other things. Brittany, however, has given the impression she favors Trump over his democratic rival Kamala Harris.” The Mirror has approached spokespersons of both women for comment.

Earlier this week, Trump thanked Brittany for defending him online, and he wrote on Truth Social: “I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country. With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless ‘leaders,’ it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM.”

Taylor is known for her tight-knit circle of ‘girl squad’ friends, which includes the likes of Selena Gomez and Sabrina Carpenter – although some fans have noted her circle frequently changes. The singer and Brittany were first spotted socialising together in September 2023, when Taylor and the footballer were spotted enjoying a girls’ night out in New York City. They were accompanied by other members of Swift’s squad, including Sophie Turner and Blake Lively, and dined at Emilio’s Ballato in Soho.
