The 44 Best WWE PPV Events In History, Ranked By Fans

The 38 Best WWE PPV Events In History, Ranked By Fans

While there have been some lesser shows, AEW always delivers when it comes to their pay-per-views. Which event tops the list?

In this sense, Cagematch.net users rate PPV events on a scale of zero to 10. Some PPVs have been so excellent that they have average ratings above nine points, which is incredible considering the hundreds of people who vote. These have gone down in history as the greatest shows ever put together by the biggest wrestling company in the world.

44 The Second ECW One Night Stand Had A Wild Crowd And A Special Main Event

Cagematch.Net Rating: 8.01

It might not have been as memorable as the first, but the second ECW One Night Stand in the Hammerstein Ballroom was still very special and holds a place in the hearts of fans. RVD’s main event win over John Cena to become the WWE Champion was of course an incredible moment, as was the six-person tag featuring Edge, Mick Foley & Lita taking on Tommy Dreamer, Beulah & Terry Funk.

It wasn’t as heavy of the ECW celebration and extreme as the previous year, but there was still enough to make it feel different to anything else on WWE TV.

Match Results Additional Notes
Tazz defeats Jerry Lawler
Kurt Angle defeats Randy Orton
The FBI defeat Super Crazy & Tajiri
Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Sabu ends in no contest World Heavyweight Championship
Edge, Lita, & Mick Foley defeat Beulah, Tommy Dreamer, & Terry Funk
Balls Mahoney defeats Masato Tanaka
RVD defeats John Cena (c) WWE Championship

43 TLC 2020 Was A Solid Show Despite Someone Being Burned Alive

Cagematch.Net Rating: 8.01

Considering the main event had Bray Wyatt being burned to a crisp, the Firefly Inferno Match was actually not too bad. Additionally, the show featured two very strong TLC matches, which managed to impress despite the lack of fans during the pandemic. Roman Reigns defeated Kevin Owens in a match more focused on story and psychology, whereas Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles (with a cash-in from The Miz which was retroactively canceled) was more fun and had plenty of good spots.

The undercard was pretty solid, with there being nothing bad on the show. The biggest downside was the fact that this show took place in the ThunderDome Era.

Match Results Additional Notes
Drew McIntyre (c) defeats AJ Styles & The Miz WWE Championship TLC
Sasha Banks (c) defeats Carmella SmackDown Women’s Championship
The Hurt Business (c) defeat The New Day RAW Tag Team Championships
Asuka & Charlotte Flair defeat Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) Women’s Tag Team Championships
Roman Reigns (c) defeats Kevin Owens Universal Championship, TLC
Randy Orton defeats Bray Wyatt Firefly Inferno

42 The First Money In The Bank PPV In 2010 Kicked The Show Off With A Bang

Cagematch.Net Rating: 8.01

WWE introduced the Money in the Bank PPV in 2010, and it ended up being one of the best “gimmick” PPVs. Kane and The Miz won two very entertaining yet different ladder matches, with Kane cashing in later on in the night too in a shocking moment. The show was ruined a little in hindsight by The Nexus such as in the main event Steel Cage match between John Cena and Sheamus, though the act was hot at the time so the crowd did not mind.

Match Results Additional Notes
Kane wins Money In The Bank Ladder
Alicia Fox (c) defeats Eve Torres Divas Championship
The Hart Dynasty (c) defeat The Usos Unified WWE Tag Team Championships
Rey Mysterio (c) defeats Jack Swagger World Heavyweight Championship
Kane defeats Rey Mysterio (c) World Heavyweight Championship (MITB cash-in)
Layla (c) defeats Kelly Kelly WWE Women’s Championship
The Miz wins Money In The Bank Ladder
Sheamus (c) defeats John Cena WWE Championship Steel Cage

41 The Main Event Of Backlash 2002 Finally Gave The Rock His Moment

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.02

Following a disappointing WrestleMania main event the month prior, The Rock defeated Triple H in a great main event at Backlash, giving him his big babyface crowning moment, which was the best thing on this show by a country mile. The Tag Team Title, European Title, IC Title, and Light Heavyweight Title matches all delivered in their own way, though there was nothing which blew things out of the water.

It was a pretty solid show all the way through aside from a few low points such as Bull Buchanan & Big Boss Man vs. APA and T&A vs. The Dudley Boyz, which would have been poor even for weekly TV.

Match Results Additional Notes
Edge & Christian (c) defeat D-Generation X WWE World Tag Team Championships
Dean Malenko (c) defeats Scott 2 Hotty Light Heavyweight Championship
Bull Buchanan & Big Boss Man defeats APA
Crash Holly wins Hardcore Championship Six-Pack Challenge
The Showster defeats Kurt Angle
T&A defeat The Dudley Boyz
Eddie Guerrero (c) defeats Essa Rios European Championship
Chris Benoit (c) defeats Chris Jericho via DQ Intercontinental Championship
The Rock defeats Triple H (c) WWE Championship

40 Night One Of WrestleMania 38 Exceeded All Expectations

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.04

Fans did not have high hopes going into this show, especially as the first two matches were very slow and basic. Things picked up with Logan Paul’s surprisingly great debut, a thrilling show-stealer between Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch, and the jaw-dropping return of Cody Rhodes, who defeated Seth Rollins in a strong matchup.

The main event of the evening was a spectacle, as Steve Austin returned to the ring for the first time in 19 years to take on Kevin Owens in a fun battle full of sports entertainment goodness.

Match Results Additional Results
The Usos (c) defeat Rick Boogs & Shinsuke Nakamura Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships
Drew McIntyre defeats Baron Corbin
Logan Paul & The Miz defeat Rey Mysterio & Dominik Mysterio
Bianca Belair defeats Becky Lynch (c) RAW Women’s Championship
Cody Rhodes defeats Seth Rollins
Charlotte Flair (c) defeats Ronda Rousey SmackDown Women’s Championship
Steve Austin defeats Kevin Owens No Holds Barred

39 The Main Event Of Elimination Chamber 2023 Had A Special Atmosphere

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.07

The crowd in Montreal were great all night, but especially so when Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns battled in the main event of the show for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The match had a big fight feel and delivered in a big way, albeit with an unpopular result.

The two Elimination Chamber matches were good, with the United States Championship Chamber in particular being a major highlight on the show, with every man showing their fantastic skills and getting a chance to shine. Perhaps the only dud of the show came when Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley ended their rivalry with a frustrating disqualification finish.

Match Results Additional Notes
Asuka wins Elimination Chamber
Bobby Lashley defeats Brock Lesnar via DQ
Edge & Beth Phoenix defeat Finn Balor & Rhea Ripley
Austin Theory wins United States Championship Elimination Chamber
Roman Reigns (c) defeats Sami Zayn Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.08

The Shield made their mark at TLC 2012, defeating the trio of Ryback, Daniel Bryan & Kane in a chaotis and massively entertaining Tables, Ladders & Chairs match, acting as the perfect debut match to showcase their skills. The rest of the card had some highlights, such as Dolph Ziggler winning the biggest main event of his career against John Cena.

Much of the card was middling, with a weird Brooklyn Brawler cameo, a slow Chairs Match between Big Show & Sheamus, and several other bang average matches.

Match Results Additional Notes
Team Rhodes Scholars defeat Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara Tables
Antonio Cesaro (c) defeats R-Truth United States Championship
Kofi Kingston (c) defeats Wade Barrett Intercontinental Championship
The Shield defeat Ryback, Daniel Bryan & Kane TLC
Eve Torres (c) defeats Naomi Divas Championship
Big Show (c) defeats Sheamus World Heavyweight Championship Chairs
The Miz, Alberto Del Rio & Brooklyn Brawler defeat 3MB
Dolph Ziggler (Mr. MITB) defeats John Cena Ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank contract

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.08

No Mercy 2002 was a middling show for the most part, but it was aided by two world class matches that are each among the best in WWE history, propelling the PPV into bigger heights. The main event between The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell was a violent war, living up to the stipulation.

The WWE Tag Team Championship tournament final match was the match of the night though, stealing the show in a massive way and ensuring that this PPV went from bang average to very good.

Match Results Additional Notes
Chris Jericho & Christian (c) defeat Booker T & Goldust World Tag Team Championships
Torrie Wilson defeats Dawn Marie
RVD defeats Ric Flair
Jamie Noble (c) defeats Tajiri Cruiserweight Championship
Triple H (c) defeats Kane (c) World Heavyweight Championship & Intercontinental Championship
Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle defeat Edge & Rey Mysterio WWE Tag Team Championship
Trish Stratus (c) defeats Victoria WWE Women’s Championship
Brock Lesnar (c) defeats The Undertaker WWE Championship Hell In A Cell

36 WWE No Way Out 2008 Set The Stage For A Great WrestleMania

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.09

The Road To WrestleMania 24 was continued in a strong way in 2008 in a show which featured two strong Elimination Chamber match that had a lot of star power and huge stakes, won by Triple H and The Undertaker respectively.

The other matches on the show weren’t all that impressive, with all three world title matches underdelivering. The show was carried by the Chamber stipulation, ensuring that it was still an enjoyable night. The segment between Floyd Mayweather and Big Show was also a highlight.

Match Results Additional Notes
Chavo Guerrero (c) defeats CM Punk ECW Championship
The Undertaker defeats Batista, MVP, Great Khali, Finlay & Big Daddy V Elimination Chamber
Ric Flair defeats Mr. Kennedy Career Threatening
Edge (c) defeats Rey Mysterio World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena defeats Randy Orton (c) via DQ WWE Championship
Triple H defeats Chris Jericho, JBL, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, & Umaga Elimination Chamber

35 The Invasion Didn’t Ruin WWE SummerSlam 2001

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.09

The WCW invasion of WWE was in full swing for SummerSlam 2001, so it was a night which saw plenty of big stars in attendance, though the matches and booking didn’t necessarily deliver all through the show. The two world title matches were pretty strong, with The Rock winning the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Booker T and Steve Austin escaping Kurt Angle via DQ to retain the WWE Title.

The rest of the card was solid aside from the awful steel cage match which saw The Brothers of Destruction take on “The Stalker” DDP and Chris Kanyon.

Match Results Additional Notes
Edge defeats Lance Storm (c) Intercontinental Championship
Test & Dudley Boyz defeat Spide Dudley & APA
X-Pac (c) defeats Tajiri (c) WWE Light Heavyweight & WCW Cruiserweight Championships
Chris Jericho defeats Rhyno
RVD defeats Jeff Hardy (c) Intercontinental Championship Ladder
Kane & Undertaker (c) defeat Kanyon & DDP (c) WWE World Tag Team Championship & WCW World Tag Team Championship Steel Cage
Kurt Angle defeats Steve Austin (c) via DQ WWE Championship
The Rock defeats Booker T (c) WCW World Heavyweight Championship

34 WWE Backlash 2009 Made Up For A Weak WrestleMania

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.10

On the heels of a disappointing WrestleMania, WWE bounced back with a show that had matches more worthy of a WrestleMania card. The World Heavyweight Championship Last Man Standing match between John Cena and Edge was fantastic, stepping up big time from the triple threat match at Mania. Randy Orton rightfully won the WWE Championship which he should’ve won at WrestleMania too.

Other improvements saw an enjoyable singles match between Chris Jericho & Ricky Steamboat, and a far more intense clash between Jeff Hardt & Matt Hardy.

Match Results Additional Notes
Christian defeats Jack Swagger (c) ECW Championship
Chris Jericho defeats Ricky Steamboat
Kane defeats CM Punk
Jeff Hardy defeats Matt Hardy “I Quit”
Santino Marella defeats Beth Phoenix
Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, & Ted DiBiase defeats Triple H (c), Batista & Shane McMahon WWE Championship
Edge defeats John Cena (c) World Heavyweight Championship Last Man Standing

33 Madison Square Garden Hosted An Iconic WrestleMania 20

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.11

WWE returned back to where it all began for WrestleMania 20, hosting the show in the historic Madison Square Garden. It was another magical night at the Garden with a classic main event, an emotional victory for Eddie Guerrero, a bone-chilling return of The Deadman, and plenty of other big stars up and down the card.

AEW has delivered in 2024 when it comes to its in-ring product, with many match-of-the-year candidates!

It wasn’t all perfect, with the infamous Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg car crash being something that stunk up the card, though it is something that fans will never forget.

Match Results Additional Notes
John Cena defeats Big Show (c) United States Championship
Booker T & RVD (c) defeat Garrison Cade & Mark Jindrak, La Resistance, & Dudley Boyz World Tag Team Championships
Christian defeats Chris Jericho
Evolution defeats Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection
Sable & Torrie Wilson defeat Miss Jackie & Stacy Keibler Playboy Evening Gown
Chavo Guerrero wins Cruiserweight Championship Cruiserweight Open
Goldberg defeats Brock Lesnar
Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty (c) defeats APA, Basham Brothers, Worlds Greatest Tag Team WWE Tag Team Championships
Victoria (c) defeats Molly Holly WWE Women’s Championship Hair Vs. Title
Eddie Guerrero (c) defeats Kurt Angle WWE Championship
The Undertaker defeats Kane
Chris Benoit defeats Triple H (c) & Shawn Michaels World Heavyweight Championship

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.15

A fairly weak and predictable Royal Rumble match was propped up by a strong undercard here. Triple H and Cactus Jack fought in a legendary Street Fight, in addition to other notable matches on the card like Tazz vs. Kurt Angle and The Hardy Boyz vs. Dudley Boyz in a Tables Match.

If this show was finished off with a better Rumble, then it would no doubt be higher on this list, but with a lack of star power and a botched finish, this event doesn’t live on as fondly as some others.

Match Results Additional Notes
Tazz defeats Kurt Angle
Hardy Boyz defeats Dudley Boyz Tables
Chris Jericho (c) defeats Chyna (c) & Hardcore Holly Intercontinental Championship
New Age Outlaws (c) defeats Acolytes World Tag Team Championships
Triple H (c) defeats Cactus Jack WWE Championship Street Fight
The Rock wins Royal Rumble

31 WWE Judgment Day 2000 Was A One Match Show

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.21

This is show which has a questionably high rating, because outside of the Iron Man match between Triple H and The Rock, this didn’t have anything that truly wowed.

Sure, the Intercontinental and European Title matches were decent, but all involved had better matches in the past. The main event between two legendary rivals really does prop this one up a great deal.

Match Results Additional Notes
Rikishi & Too Cool defeats Christian, Edge, & Kurt Angle
Eddie Guerrero (c) defeats Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn European Championship
Shane McMahon defeats Big Show No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere
Chris Benoit (c) defeats Chris Jericho Intercontinental Championship Submission
DX defeats Dudley Boyz Tables
Triple H defeats The Rock (c) 6-5 WWE Championship Iron Man

30 WWE’s Biggest Names Delivered At Fully Loaded 2000

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.21

This was a very solid PPV from start to finish, featuring a whole host of Attitude Era stars. The Rock won a strong main event, and other matches such as The Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle brought some big star power.

The match of the night was the brutal Last Man Standing bout between Chris Jericho and Triple H, which proved to be a great addition to their feud.

Match Results Additional Notes
Lita & Hardy Boyz defeats T&A
Tazz defeats Al Snow
Perry Saturn defeats Eddie Guerrero (c) European Championship
APA defeats Christian & Edge (c) via DQ World Tag Team Championship
Undertaker defeats Kurt Angle
Val Venis (c) defeats Rikishi Intercontinental Championship Steel Cage
Triple H defeats Chris Jericho Last Man Standing
The Rock (c) defeats Chris Benoit WWE Championship

29 A High Rating Despite An Up And Down Vengeance 2003

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.22

The high rating of this show is fairly surprising given some of the disastrous things on the show. Vince McMahon vs. Zach Gowen lasted too long, Stephanie McMahon vs. Sable was abysmal, and the APA Invitational Bar Room Brawl was a miss for many.

That being said, there were some good matches to balance things out, with an electric opener, a great tag title match between the World’s Greatest Tag Team and Rey Mysterio & Billy Kidman, and a strong main event clash between Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and Big Show. It also featured a high-profile match between a young, heel John Cena and The Undertaker in his “Biker” persona.

Match Results Additional Notes
Eddie Guerrero wins United States Championship Tournament Finals
Jamie Noble defeats Billy Gunn Indecent Proposal
Bradshaw wins APA Invitational Bar Room Brawl
Worlds Greatest Tag Team (c) defeats Rey Mysterio & Billy Kidman WWE Tag Team Championships
Sable defeats Stephanie McMahon No Countout Cat Fight
The Undertaker defeats John Cena
Vince McMahon defeats Zach Gowen
Kurt Angle defeats Brock Lesnar (c) & Big Show WWE Championship

28 WWE’s One Night Stand Event In 2008 Saw A Night Of Extreme Matches

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.24

Although One Night Stand was no longer an ECW PPV in 2008, WWE did try to stay true to the legacy of this event by having a stipulation attached to every match. This led to fun encounters like Jeff Hardy vs Umaga in a Falls Count Anywhere match, Batista vs Shawn Michaels in Stretcher match, and John Cena vs JBL in a First Blood match.

WCW actually produced a lot of great stories, characters, and matches, that led to some amazing pay-per-views.

What really set this show apart was a terrific main event. Undertaker and Edge told another chapter of their storied rivalry with this fantastic TLC match which had The Undertaker’s WWE contract on the line, in addition to the World Heavyweight Championship.

Match Results Additional Notes
Jeff Hardy defeats Umaga Falls Count Anywhere
Big Show wins Singapore Cane Fatal Five Way
John Cena defeats JBL First Blood
Beth Phoenix defeats Melina I Quit
Batista defeats Shawn Michaels Stretcher
Triple H (c) defeats Randy Orton WWE Championship Last Man Standing
Edge defeats The Undertaker World Heavyweight Championship TLC

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.27

No Way Out 2009 was an exciting night with a lot of twists and turns. Edge losing his WWE Title in mere minutes at the start of the show was shocking, and seeing him forcibly enter his second Elimination Chamber match later in the night to win the World Heavyweight Title made for a wonderful storyline thread throughout the show.

The non-chamber matches also delivered, with an intense showdown between Shawn Michaels and JBL, and a fun brawl between Randy Orton and Shane McMahon.

Match Results Additional Notes
Triple H wins WWE Championship Elimination Chamber
Randy Orton defeats Shane McMahon No Holds Barred
Jack Swagger (c) defeats Finlay ECW Championship
Shawn Michaels defeats JBL All or Nothing
Edge wins World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber

26 Jeff Hardy Finally Got His Moment At WWE Armageddon 2008

Cagematch.net Rating 8.29

From top to bottom, this was a well put-together show from WWE, and it was completed by one of the best WWE Championships wins of all time as Jeff Hardy defeated both Edge and Triple H in an electric main event.

Elsewhere, Rey Mysterio and CM Punk had a clinic, John Cena vs Chris Jericho was a strong World Championship match, and Randy Orton took on Batista in a well-worked encounter.

Match Results Additional Notes
Vladimir Kozlov defeats Matt Hardy
CM Punk defeats Rey Mysterio Intercontinental Championship Number One Contenders
Finlay defeats Mark Henry Belfast Brawl
Batista defeats Randy Orton
Kelly Kelly, Maria, Michelle McCool, & Mickie James defeats Jillian, Maryse, Natalya, & Victoria
John Cena (c) defeats Chris Jericho World Heavyweight Championship
Jeff Hardy defeats Edge (c) & Triple H WWE Championship

25 The UK Crowd Made WWE Clash At The Castle 2022 Special

Cagematch.net Rating: 8.32

WWE’s first UK PPV for around two decades fired on all cylinders. A hot crowd and a big stadium added to the occasion, and it elevated an all-time classic Intercontinental Championship match between Gunther and Sheamus to being one of the best in history.

The main event between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre was a spectacle too, though the result left many people dejected. The rest of the card was of a good quality – Seth Rollins vs. Matt Riddle was great, and Dominik Mysterio’s heel turn was well done.

Match Results Additional Notes
Damage CTRL defeats Bianca Belair, Asuka, & Alexa Bliss
Gunther (c) defeats Sheamus Intercontinental Championship
Liv Morgan (c) defeats Shayna Baszler SmackDown Women’s Championship
Edge & Rey Mysterio defeats The Judgment Day
Seth Rollins defeats Matt Riddle
Roman Reigns (c) defeats Drew McIntyre Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
