Daniel Garcia has finally returned to AEW after All Out.
At All Out on September 7th, Garcia faced MJF in a losing contest. However, despite the loss, Garcia stood tall at the end of the match to a roaring crowd. It marked Garcia’s final appearance in the promotion until today.
Fans speculated Garcia to part ways with the promotion to join WWE when his contract reportedly finished in October. However, Daniel Garcia returned tonight on the October 8th episode of Dynamite and dropped an update on his future with All Elite Wrestling.
Garcia claimed that during his time sitting at home, he figured out what was best for him. Addressing the crowd, Garcia declared himself as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world, and his decision to continue with Tony Khan’s promotion.
And the thing is, I feel like because I am one of the best professionals in the world, that is only right that I stay where the best wrestle, AEW.”
With the crowd erupting and cheering for Garcia, the former Champion laid out a challenge for all the current champions in the locker room. Soon after, during a backstage segment, Katsuyori Shibata congratulated Garcia on his extension and teased a future clash.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp further confirmed Daniel Garcia’s announcement.
Back during the All In press conference, Tony Khan was asked about Daniel Garcia’s future. Long before, Garcia announced his stay with the Jacksonville-based promotion, Khan shared some hints on his future.
It’s been about three years with Daniel here. And Daniel Garcia started with us in Daily’s Place, and he was kind of on that run of shows right before we went back and started wrestling in front of the crowds again. So he’s somebody who’s been with us a really long time. He’s somebody beloved by the fans and backstage and we love having Daniel here.
So without saying exactly what’s going on, it’s a good sign that he was here and really great to have him come and take that next step tonight. After what happened with him and MJF and Will Ospreay being involved in the International title, it was a great payoff to a lot of storytelling in the recent weeks on Dynamite. […] But Daniel Garcia has been a big part of AEW for a long time. We love having him here.”
