After reaching the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters, Novak Djokovic has reached 406 Masters 1000 wins, surpassing Rafael Nadal’s 82% win rate.
Djokovic’s win-loss record at Masters 1000 is 406-89, a win percentage of 82.02%. This is better than Rafael Nadal’s 82% (410 wins – 90 losses). Nole becomes the player with the best win percentage at the Masters 1000 system, where he also holds the record of 40 titles.
On the hard court Masters 1000 alone, Djokovic has 267 wins, three more than the second-placed Roger Federer and 210 more than Nadal. Djokovic made his Masters 1000 debut at the Cincinnati Open in 2005, then had his first win at the Paris Masters the same year.
Djokovic defeated Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 6-2 in the third round on October 8, in what could be considered his best match of the season. Cobolli is no weak player, as he is the 28th seed in the tournament and was a reserve for the Laver Cup Europe team last month.
Djokovic’s next opponent in the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters is Roman Safiullin, then possibly Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinals. Nole’s chance of reaching the semi-finals is bright if he continues to maintain the form he had in the match against Cobolli.
Joining Djokovic in the semi-finals is Alexander Zverev, who struggled to beat Tallon Griekspoor 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 in the third round. This was a match in which Zverev made a bad impression when he argued with the respected referee Mohamed Lahyani over a situation in which he made a mistake. Zverev later blamed the referee for his two Grand Slam final losses.
In the upper bracket, top seed Jannik Sinner will play Ben Shelton in the fourth round today, while Carlos Alcaraz will face Gael Monfils. The upper bracket also features the much-anticipated match between Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
