WWE Does Have Plans For Women’s Midcard Titles, But The Images Are Fake

If you fall into the camp of wrestling fans who believe there are too many championships in WWE, you might want to look away now. There have been rumors circulating on social media this weekend suggesting WWE has plans to introduce United States and Intercontinental Titles for the women’s division, complete with photos. Turns out those rumors are likely true, although the pictures attached to them are not.

More New Midcard Titles In WWE

Social media account @hashtagPWN appears to have been the source of the rumors, claiming WWE has plans to add a Women’s US Title and a Women’s Intercontinental Title, one midcard championship for Raw and the other for SmackDown. Fightful Select has followed up on that report, confirming the plans are true. However, the image attached which appeared to show what the new belts might look like isn’t the real deal and is likely AI-generated.

Chelsea Green is riling up fans with a recent statement on social media, but her idea could actually create a great storyline for WWE.

Little more is known about the plans for the new championships at this point other than they will be exclusive to Raw and SmackDown. It’s not even clear if the titles have been created or if this is little more than a discussion that’s been had internally in WWE. It would make a lot of sense if these plans were to come to fruition though. NXT’s women’s division now has a North American Title, so it only seems fair that main roster equivalents have at least been discussed.

These Rumors Aren’t Going Away

This isn’t the first time rumors like this have done the rounds. Almost exactly a month ago there was talk of WWE having a Women’s IC Championship ready to go. However, those rumors didn’t include talk of a US Title joining it, nor were they confirmed. This past weekend’s reports have taken this talk to the next level, although until WWE makes it official, there’s no way of knowing for sure whether we will actually see these new championships.

Not because they don’t exist necessarily, but because there have been reports in the past of WWE going as far as to make new championships and then never use them. WWE reportedly had Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles ready to go, but they never saw the light of day. That said, it seems more likely these US and IC Titles will be unveiled eventually, and they will give more Superstars in WWE’s growing women’s division the chance to hold gold.
