Every Major WWE Women’s Storyline Of 2024, Ranked

Around 10 years ago, WWE put a renewed emphasis on highlighting their female talent and allowing them to be more than attractive side characters. While progress takes time, 10 years later, it’s fair to say WWE has righted many of their previous wrongs. Today, we live in a world where women’s wrestling is viewed on par with men’s.

These surprising 2024 wrestling moments left fans speechless, for better or worse!

2024, specifically, has been a great year for women’s wrestling on WWE’s main roster. The year has been filled with captivating storylines that will likely hold the attention of the WWE audience heading into 2025. Here are the most interesting women’s WWE storylines so far in 2024.

Every Major WWE Women's Storyline Of 2024, Ranked

10 Naomi Brings The Glow Back To WWE

There Doesn’t Seem To Be Any Hurt Feelings From Her Walk Out

After walking out on WWE in 2022, Sasha Banks and Naomi spent all of 2023 establishing themselves outside of WWE. Naomi would land in TNA and have a nice run in the promotion. At Royal Rumble 2024, however, Naomi made her triumphant return to WWE.

She entered the match at number two and lasted over an hour. Since returning, Naomi has enjoyed solid success. She had a marquee match at WrestleMania 40 and is one of the leading candidates to capture one of the new secondary women’s championships that are rumored to be on the horizon. Only time will tell, but Naomi’s comeback has certainly been worth keeping up with.

9 Becky Lynch Wins The Women’s World Championship But Also Leaves WWE

What’s Next For “The Man?”

By 2024, Becky Lynch had accomplished everything there was to accomplish in WWE except capturing the new Women’s World Championship. Becky’s pursuit was a big storyline in the early part of the year. So was her impending free agency. At WrestleMania 40, Lynch would fail to capture the Women’s World Championship.

After an injury to Rhea Ripley though, Lynch would capture the vacant title. Many fans saw this as a clear indication that Lynch would end up re-signing with WWE. That wouldn’t be the case though. Lynch would drop the title to Liv Morgan before letting her WWE contract expire. Her next landing spot is a storyline that many fans will be monitoring.

8 The Rise Of Lyra Valkyria

Can Lyra Fill The Void Left By Becky Lynch?

In years past, NXT success hasn’t always translated into main roster success. That’s why Lyra Valkyria’s ascent up the WWE ranks will be interesting to observe. Valkyria proved in NXT that she has the tools necessary for long-term success. It’s just a matter of her connecting with the audience and making them care.

As far as booking goes, WWE has done a solid job of establishing her as an up-and-coming star. Becky Lynch gave Valkyria her stamp of approval on her way out of WWE, and it will be interesting to see how far that and her deep run in the Queen Of The Ring Tournament will carry her. She’s also a very strong candidate to capture one of the secondary women’s championships.

7 Damage CTRL Gains Members But Loses A Leader

Adding members to any faction can be a slippery slope. In the case of Damage CTRL though, it kind of made sense. After Kairi Sane made her WWE return and joined her friend Iyo Sky in Damage CTRL, her Kabuki Warriors running mate, Asuka, seemed like a natural fit.

Some faction leaders were only in it for themselves, whereas others wanted all of their members to succeed.

The addition of The Kabuki Warriors certainly leveled up Damage CTRL. However, it would also eventually spell the end of Bayley as the group’s leader. The group is firmly under Iyo Sky’s leadership now, and it’s going to be interesting to see if they can recapture their past momentum or if the group will crumble without Bayley.

6 Jade Cargill Arrives In WWE

WWE Is Being Patient And Taking Their Time With Her

In late 2023, Jade Cargill decided to make the jump from AEW to WWE, to the joy of many WWE fans. In what was a wise move, WWE didn’t rush Cargill’s debut. Instead, they saved it for the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Match. After a strong showing in the match, Cargill would be placed on the SmackDown roster and be given star treatment.

She was quickly placed alongside Bianca Belair and the two would even have a reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. WWE’s next move with Cargill will be vital. She’s already proven in AEW that she can be a great heel. A feud with her former partner, Belair seems like a no-brainer, but only time will tell.

5 All Hail Queen Nia Jax

Nia Has Been On Quite A Run Since Returning To WWE

After making a one-off appearance in the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble Match, Nia Jax returned to the company full-time in late 2023. At first, Jax had a little bit of ring rust to shake off, but she eventually found her stride. After unsuccessfully challenging for the Women’s World Championship and main eventing her first PLE, Jax started gaining some momentum.

That momentum would carry Jax to her first big accomplishment since returning to WWE, winning the Queen Of The Ring Tournament. The win also earned Jax an opportunity at the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. It will be interesting to see how that scenario plays out. It wouldn’t be surprising to see “The Irresistible Force” climb back to the top of the mountain.

4 Bayley Gets Booted From Her Own Faction

The Role Model Becomes A Babyface And A Champion

At SummerSlam 2022, Bayley debuted her new faction, Damage CTRL. With Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky by her side, Bayley loomed over WWE’s women’s division. The goal was originally for Bayley to win the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Match and challenge Rhea Ripley for the only piece of gold that eluded Damage CTRL, the Women’s World Championship.

Plans would change, however, after Damage CTRL turned on Bayley and kicked her out of the group. At WrestleMania 40, Bayley would get some payback when she beat Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship. Many fans are curious how long babyface Bayley will be able to hold onto the WWE Women’s Championship now that she’s got a target on her back and no backup.

One Of The Fastest Rising Stars In WWE History

In 2024, the clock has struck “Tiffy Time” and WWE fans are better off for it. Tiffany Stratton had already proven to be a standout performer while in NXT. When she made it to the main roster though, she proved that, despite the hype, she was still being slept on.

Tiffany Stratton is destined to become one of the top performers in WWE’s Women’s Division! Here’s a deeper look at the rising star.

Stratton has taken WWE’s women’s division by storm. Every time she’s on a television screen, fans are invested. Stratton’s rise has been nothing short of spectacular. At Money In The Bank 2024, Stratton captured the coveted Money In The Bank contract and is looking poised to be WWE Women’s Champion sooner rather than later. It’s looking like it may be “Tiffy Time” for a long time.

2 The Liv Morgan Revenge Tour Is In Full Swing

Are We Getting Another Ladder Match For The Custody Of Dominik Mysterio?

After missing the back half of 2023 with a shoulder injury, Liv Morgan returned to WWE at Royal Rumble 2024. She attacked Rhea Ripley the night after WrestleMania 40 and promised to take everything from her. After Liv’s attack left Ripley legitimately injured, Liv would go on to capture Ripley’s World Championship from Becky Lynch.

That wouldn’t be enough for Liv though, as she then set her sights on Dominik Mysterio. Liv’s pursuit of Dom has been one of the most interesting storylines in all wrestling, let alone the women’s division. This messy love triangle will no doubt have fans fully invested going forward now that Mami is back.

1 Mami Is Back With A Vengeance

Absence Makes The Heart Grown Fonder

In 2023, Rhea Ripley began establishing herself as one of WWE’s top young stars. Unfortunately, in 2024, right at the peak of her success, Ripley got injured and was forced to vacate her Women’s World Championship. Ripley would end up being out of action for three months.

While sitting on the sidelines, Ripley watched Liv Morgan win her title and make moves on her man. In July 2024, Ripley returned to a massive pop. She is now firmly a babyface and fans can’t wait to go on this redemption story with her. Mami’s climb back to the top is one fans will likely be fully invested in.
