John Cena announces retirement from WWE

Wrestling legend John Cena said he will retire after WrestleMania 2025.

Making a surprise appearance at the Money in the Bank event in Toronto (Canada), John Cena revealed that he will retire from WWE after WrestleMania 2025, Deadline reported on July 6.

“Tonight, I am officially announcing my retirement from WWE,” the 16-time world champion said to a stunned audience. Cena later revealed that he plans to join Monday Night Raw when the show moves to Netflix in 2025.

“Royal Rumble 2025 will be my last match. Elimination Chamber 2025 will be my last match. And I’m here tonight to announce that in Las Vegas, WrestleMania 2025 will be my last WrestleMania,” Cena excitedly announced.

The male wrestler did not forget to thank the audience who have followed and supported him throughout his career spanning more than two decades.

Cena signed with WWE in 2001. He then switched to part-time work from 2018 to develop his acting career. During his wrestling career in WWE, the 47-year-old star won a total of 25 championships of all kinds, holding the world heavyweight title 16 times (13 times WWE Championship and 3 times World Heavyweight Championship).

Besides his illustrious wrestling career, John Cena has also made his mark in the acting field. Some of the famous films he has participated in include Daddy’s Home , Blockers , The Suicide Squad and of course Bumblebee or Fast & Furious 9.
