Jannik Sinner recently opened up about his relationship with his girlfriend, fellow tennis player Anna Kalinskaya. The World No. 1 shed light on how they uplift each other while on tour.
Sinner and Russian player Kalinskaya made their relationship public in May at the 2024 French Open. The pair, although private about their personal lives, have frequently supported each other from the sidelines ever since.
Anna Kalinskaya witnessed Jannik Sinner’s US Open glory in person. The elated couple was also captured sharing an adorable kiss while celebrating the triumph. During his recent China Open campaign, Sinner was asked about his bond with Kalinskaya and their kiss, which went viral on social media.
“It was a nice moment,” he said during his interview with CCTV5. “We just support each other as much as we can.”
Anna Kalinskaya was captured cheering on her partner at the China Open, too. At the event, the World No. 14 bowed out with a 7-5, 6-0 loss to Yuliia Starodubtseva in the Round of 16, while Jannik Sinner, who was the defending champion, reached the final.
The World No. 1 fell short against his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz 6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-6 (3), but received immense support from his girlfriend, who pumped him up from the stands and gave him an affectionate hug following his defeat.
Jannik Sinner hinted that while they may not exchange any tennis tactics, considering their different playing styles on court, they try to support each other from afar.
“As tennis players we are, you know, different. I am different also to other tennis players. But for sure I always try to support her because she also tries to support me, giving some positive energy,” the two-time Grand Slam champion said.
During the 2024 grasscourt season, Sinner and Kalinskaya simultaneously reached their maiden finals on the surface in Halle and Berlin, respectively. While the Italian emerged victorious, his partner came up short. At the time, Sinner made a special mention of Kalinskaya’s efforts during his victory speech.
With no time to spare, Jannik Sinner has now landed in Shanghai for the 2024 Shanghai Masters.
At the event, the Italian is chasing his seventh title of the season and a third at the 1000 level. Being the top seed, he has received a bye in the opening round and commences his journey against Taro Daniel in the second round on Saturday, October 5.
Anna Kalinskaya, meanwhile, is headed to Wuhan for the upcoming WTA 1000 event. The World No. 14, who reached her maiden WTA 1000 final earlier this year in Dubai, is in pursuit of her first tour-level title at the tournament
