He has had an underwhelming 12-7 win/loss record this year and is currently ranked 154th in the world.
The Spaniard’s best result came at the Nordea Open in Bastad where he lost to Nuno Borges in the final. The 22-time Major champion also competed at the Olympics this year. In singles, he was defeated by longtime rival Novak Djokovic in the second round, while his doubles campaign alongside Carlos Alcaraz was ended by Team USA’s Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek in the quarterfinals.
