Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has just arrived in Hoi An for a vacation. He has a once-illustrious career and a happy, enviable life at the age of 43.
Roger Federer was born in 1981, in Basel (Switzerland). Known as “Express Train”, Federer is a legend of Swiss and world tennis.
During his illustrious career, Federer has achieved countless “huge” achievements such as: a record 8 times Wimbledon champion and 6 times Australian Open champion, 5 times US Open champion and 1 time French Open champion. He won the Olympic silver medal in 2012 and held the record of 237 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the world in the ATP rankings (before being dethroned by Novak Djokovic).
Thanks to his talent and constant efforts, Federer has a large audience and fan base. In September 2022, he announced his retirement when his performance began to decline.
After retiring, the tennis player spends a lot of time with his family, traveling and participating in charity activities. Most recently, he attracted attention when he appeared with his family in Hoi An on a vacation.
Federer’s happy marriage is admired by many. His wife is Mirka Vavrinec. Federer met her at the 2000 Olympics, when they were both playing for the Swiss tennis team.
The couple shared their first kiss on the final day of the Olympics, after Roger suffered two bitter defeats in the semi-final and third-place match. Those were also regrettable matches when he could have won but missed out.
In a 2005 interview, when asked about the happiest day of his life, Federer did not hesitate to say that it was the first day he met Mirka in Sydney.
Not only lovers, the two were also collaborators, playing together in many tournaments. Mirka was one of the three female partners who played with Federer and brought him the most emotions.
In 2002, Mirka suffered a foot injury and had to retire early after several unsuccessful surgeries. Since then, Federer has invited her to become his media manager, to help her recover from the injury. At the same time, the couple can continue to travel together on new journeys.
In April 2009, after 9 years of dating, they got married in Basel, in a simple, cozy wedding. In July of the same year, Mirka gave birth to twin girls, Myla Rose and Charlene Riva.
In May 2014, Federer and his wife welcomed their second set of twins, Leo and Lenny Federer. Federer called it a miracle.
Federer and his wife rarely share their private life and do not post pictures of their children on social media. Federer once said that he has a son who is more interested in tennis than his sisters. He and his wife will also teach the children this sport if they have time.
After retiring, Federer often goes to charity work with his family or travels around the world. He still practices tennis regularly as a passion that is hard to give up, but also spends a lot of time meeting friends, taking care of his family and enjoying life.
