Kevin Owens’ current WWE deal is expected to expire by the end of the year. A new update has emerged with details on his future with the company following his split with Randy Orton on SmackDown.
The Prizefighter has been a mainstay in WWE since he arrived on the main roster in 2015 and entered a feud with John Cena. Since then, he has captured multiple championships, including the Universal Title. He even main-evented WrestleMania 38 against his idol Stone Cold Steve Austin. It was rumored that his WWE contract was near expiration and AEW was interested in bringing him in.
According to WrestleVotes, on a live Q&A with Bill Apter on Backstage Pass, Kevin Owens and WWE are reportedly very close to getting a new deal done. This means he’ll remain with the company for the foreseeable future.
“I did reach out and talk to a couple of people. Didn’t get an ‘absolutley the deal’s been signed’ but did get a really positive response that it’s very close, if not completed with a handshake, so I imagine he’s around for the long run,” said Wrestlevotes.
Kevin Owens is no longer friends with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, as he had a falling out with them after Bad Blood. He’s currently a heel now.
