Jannik Sinner’s Unforgettable 2024 Season: A Journey of Triumph and Growth

The 7-6, 6-3 victory over Djokovic in the final of the 2024 Shanghai Masters on the evening of October 13 helped Sinner officially end the year as world number one. He achieved a win-loss record of 65-6, reached at least the quarterfinals of all 14 tournaments he participated in and won 7 championships, including two Grand Slams.

In 2024, the Italian won two Grand Slams, the Australian Open and the US Open. He won three ATP Masters 1000 titles, the Miami Open, the Cincinnati Open and the Shanghai Masters, and two ATP 500 titles in Rotterdam and Halle, and reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros and the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.

Despite the pressure of the failed doping test, Sinner has won 21 of his last 22 matches, losing only to Alcaraz in the China Open final. However, Sinner still has many concerns about the future, his doping case continues to drag on and has not been officially concluded.

Although the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) determined that Sinner did not intentionally use banned substances and was only fined for ranking points and prize money, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) still appealed and requested a 2-year ban for the Italian star.

Sinner shared: “This year has been really difficult for me, because of the troubles outside the field. There were times when I lost my joy, because the problems outside the field made it difficult for me to play comfortably.

Even if I win, it doesn’t mean I don’t have problems. I just want everything to end soon so I can compete more comfortably and move forward.”

In 2024, Jannik Sinner can conquer more titles when he attends the Paris Masters (from October 26 to November 3 in France) and the ATP Finals (November 13 to November 20 in Italy).
