Jannik Sinner settled his head-to-head record with Novak Djokovic after beating him in the Shanghai Masters final.
Sinner struggled to break Djokovic in their Shanghai Masters clash, but eventually managed to beat the Serbian 7-6(7-4), 6-3.
The Italian now has 65 wins for the season, with Djokovic ultimately failing in his efforts to win a 100th tour-level title.
Sinner is now the youngest Shanghai Masters winner, with the world number one dropping just one set on his way to the trophy.
The victory comes after he lost out in the China Open final earlier this month, with Carlos Alcaraz coming from behind to beat the top seed.
Top-seeded again at the Shanghai Masters, Sinner clinched his seventh tour-level title of a remarkable 2024 so far.
And as per the ATP Tour website, he has now become the first man to win more than six titles in a single calendar year since the nine of Andy Murray in 2016.
Djokovic was perhaps the man to beat at the Chinese tournament, with the Serbian boasting a record four Shanghai Masters titles.
And that was undoubtedly the case after China Open champion Carlos Alcaraz fell in the quarter-finals to Tomas Machac.
Sinner then overcame the Czech in their semi-final meeting, having previously overcome the likes of Ben Shelton and Daniil Medvedev.
Djokovic meanwhile also impressively ousted seventh seed and US Open finalist Taylor Fritz in their semi-final meeting.
But the 24-time Grand Slam champion couldn’t match Sinner for the trophy, with the pair now level on four wins apiece in their head-to-head record.
