Following the announcement, Novak Djokovic, Nadal’s greatest rival in his career, sent his sincere gratitude and confirmed that he would be present in person at his colleague’s farewell match.

Djokovic said: “Rafa, a post about you is not enough to express all the words I want. You have inspired millions of children to start playing tennis, and that is probably the greatest achievement anyone can dream of. I promise to be there for the last event you play.”

Nadal later re-shared the post on Instagram with a promising message: “Thank you Nole! We’ve been through a lot together and there will be more in the future.”

Rafa’s statement sparked rumors of a collaboration between the two legends after Nadal officially retired. Although details have not been revealed, fans are curious whether the two could join hands in tennis-related projects, or whether the “King of Clay” will become a coach in the “The Djoker” team.

Nadal and his great love for Real Madrid

In addition to his illustrious tennis career with 22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 wins at Roland Garros, Rafa is also known for his passionate love for Real Madrid football club. He is a loyal fan of the Spanish Royal team and was awarded an honorary membership in 2011.

"Perez

Nadal is a regular at the Santiago Bernabeu and has a close relationship with president Florentino Perez. This has led to speculation that Nadal could run for Real Madrid’s presidency when “boss” Perez steps down.

In an interview with Movistar in September 2024, Nadal admitted: “Would I like to be president of the club? I think so. But right now we have the best president possible.”

However, Nadal is not sure about his ability to take on this role: “There are many things to consider. Today I think one way, but tomorrow it might be different. I know my limits and I am not sure if I am capable of taking on that role. Time will tell.”

Rafael Nadal is not only famous for his outstanding sporting achievements but also for his noble values in sports. Real Madrid President Perez declared in 2018 that: “Nadal is the greatest Spanish athlete in history”.

He stressed that in addition to his victories on the tennis court, Nadal also showed admirable sportsmanship. With these positive comments, many people expect that after leaving his current position, Perez will consider supporting Nadal as a strong candidate for a future leadership role.
