In just three days, the Golden State Warriors will begin their 2024-25 NBA campaign with their regular season opener. And to allay concerns about the possibility of not being able to play in the new season’s opening game, Stephen Curry has given fans some good news.
According to an update from head coach Steve Kerr, the Golden State Warriors’ number 1 star has returned to practice, aiming to play in the match against Portland Trail Blazers next Thursday, Vietnam time.
During the recent NBA Preseason, Stephen Curry dislocated his finger and went through a relatively uncomfortable time.
He initially bandaged his finger so he could continue training and playing, but the pain did not go away and the Warriors captain was forced to miss several training sessions, as well as sit out a friendly match against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although Golden State is undefeated in all 6 preseason games, what the club’s fans are concerned about is whether Stephen Curry’s injury will be cured in time for the season opener on October 24.
Fortunately, according to coach Steve Kerr, Curry’s finger is fine for him to return to practice, aiming to play this Thursday.
“Seeing Steph Curry recover, practice and even participate in scrimmages with his teammates makes me feel a lot better ,” said the Golden State head coach.
“The team still has some knots to iron out before the Regular Season, so we’re playing a lot of practice matches to help the team improve. Having Stephen there and playing with the team will definitely be a big help.”
In preseason matches, Stephen Curry seemed to have not “warmed up” with an average of 11 points per game. The 36-year-old guard’s shooting percentage was only 36.6% FG and 28% 3PT.
Not counting the score because it is also related to the number of minutes played, Curry’s successful shooting rate is also quite low compared to the average of the last season which was 26.4 points, 45% FG and 40.8% 3PT.
Despite his poor stats, no one will dare to underestimate the “head chef” when the Regular Season matches begin.
The Golden State Warriors will begin the 2024-25 NBA campaign with two away games, facing the Portland Trail Blazers (9:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24) and the Utah Jazz (8:30 a.m. Saturday, October 26).
Next up is a home series against the LA Clippers (October 28) and a back-to-back matchup with the New Orleans Pelicans (October 30-31).
