LeBron James and his son, Bronny, have been sued over their alleged involvement in a 2022 car crash. Right after the father and son duo made history in the NBA on Tuesday night, TMZ Sports reported that the pair might be facing a legal issue.
According to the outlet, the suit was filed by two plaintiffs in Los Angeles County on Tuesday. April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen are suing the two NBA players over unspecified damages following an encounter with the Jameses on a highway on Nov. 13, 2022, in Little Rock, California.
They allege that the LA Lakers players slammed into them, resulting in Lopez and McGillen requiring medical attention. In addition, they say that the car they were in was damaged and lost value.
TMZ Sports reported that Lopez and McGillen’s attorney did not respond to requests for comment despite being contacted by the media company.
LeBron James and Bronny made history Tuesday night, becoming the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time. The youngest member of the two only played three minutes and grabbed one rebound, but his father had a solid season debut, scoring 16 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing four assists.
Anthony Davis carried the Lakers with 36 points and 16 rebounds, leading the team to a 110-103 season-opening win, the first victory for the franchise under JJ Redick. The Purple and Gold defeated Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena, starting a season that looks promising for them.
Neither LeBron nor Bronny has addressed the matter publicly.
After sharing the court with his firstborn, LeBron James was ecstatic. The four-time NBA champion wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram to celebrate his son and the fact that they both made it to the biggest stage.
“Hollywood couldn’t write a better script so we helped them write it and brought it to them. HISTORY WAS MADE! #JamesGang,” he captioned the post.
The Lakers are off to a good start, and if their pieces click, this team could be a contender season. The Lakers aren’t at the same level as the best teams in the West, but their outing against the Timberwolves was remarkable. They’ll return to the court on Friday against the Phoenix Suns.
