The San Antonio Spurs hosted the Houston Rockets on Saturday in a rivalry matchup between two Texas teams. While the Texas rivalry among Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio is not as fierce as other rivalries in the league, it appears that Brooks doesn’t care about the concept.
Brooks got into it with Victor Wembanyama. During the third quarter with 9:29 minutes remaining on the clock, Wembanyama and Brooks found themselves in a tug-of-war as they tried to snatch the ball from each other. This resulted in both players crashing on the hardwood.
Brooks didn’t want to give up on the play despite already hearing a whistle from the officials. This led to the bench getting involved to try and separate the two players.

This isn’t the first time Victor Wembanyama and Dillon Brooks went up against each other on the hardwood. In Wembanyama’s rookie year, he faced Brooks on four times. The Rockets guard wasn’t impressed by the towering Frenchman and reportedly said he was nothing but a tall player.
However, Wembanyama proved his worth by letting his game do the talking. The first time both players crossed paths, the San Antonio Spurs giant had the last laugh as he carried his team to a 126-122 victory over the Houston Rockets. “Wemby” notched 21 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals.
Unfortunately for the Spurs, they lost to the Rockets in the next three games they had with Wembanyama and Brooks in their respective lineups.
The two stars then faced off again, this time in the 2024 Olympic games held in Wembanyama’s home country. It was a sweet moment for the towering Frenchman as he was able to dethrone Brooks and Canada in the knockout rounds.
Now in the 2024-25 NBA season, we should expect to see a lot more from the duo. Given how both players are playing in the same conference, their matchups against each other will often come up.
