Determined Sinner Sets Sights on an Astonishing 30 Grand Slam Titles!

(Sports news, tennis news) Jannik Sinner, 23 years old, won 2 Grand Slams in 2024 and is predicted to be able to conquer 30 titles, surpassing Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer.

After an excellent 2024 season, Jannik Sinner made the tennis world take his hat off when he won the first two Grand Slam titles of his career.

However, according to the President of the Italian Tennis Federation (FITP) Angelo Binaghi, Sinner’s goal does not stop there. He believes that the young Italian tennis player can absolutely aim for a whopping 30 Grand Slams, surpassing legends such as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Brilliant 2024 season

Sinner, 23, won his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January and followed it up with the US Open in September. Not only did he win two majors, he also finished the 2024 season as the world No. 1 in the ATP rankings. The Italian won seven titles during the year, with an impressive 91.5% win rate, with 65 wins and just six losses.

Speaking on Radio Rai Gr Parlamento, President Angelo Binaghi commented: “Sinner won two Grand Slams in one year and he is 15 years younger than Djokovic. If he maintains this form, he can reach 30 Grand Slam titles.”

He admits this may be an “excessive” goal, but it’s not impossible given Sinner’s continued growth.

Health is the deciding factor

However, Binaghi stressed that the most important factor is not the number of titles, but Sinner’s health condition. “The important thing is to keep him in perfect physical condition. If Sinner is always healthy, he is a phenomenon, both as an athlete and as a person,” Mr. Binaghi emphasized.

Besides, Binaghi also affirmed: “Whether Sinner wins 10, 20 or 30 Grand Slam titles, that is not too important. What we need to care about is how to keep him always ready and maintain the highest level. For the first time in history, Italian tennis has such a world-class star”.

Challenges Ahead: Doping Allegations

Despite being in the prime of his career, Sinner has not been immune to off-court trouble. In August, the International Tennis Integrity Authority (ITIA) announced that Sinner would not be banned from competition despite testing positive for clostebol, a steroid banned in tennis.

Sinner is understood to have ingested the substance during treatment for an injury, when his doctor used a steroid spray to treat a cut on his finger.

Despite being cleared by an independent tribunal, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) continued to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), requesting a ban of up to two years for Sinner.

Still, Binaghi remains optimistic about Sinner’s chances of overcoming the challenge: “We have great faith in CAS. WADA is not looking at this incident, but at the correct application of the current rules.” He also predicted that a final ruling would be made in early 2025.
