The main draw of Paris Masters 2024 will commence from Monday as top tennis stars battle for the title of the last ATP 1000 event of the season. However, some top names have already announced their withdrawal from the tournament.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the top three players who have pulled out from the Paris Masters 2024:
Just days after pulling out of his round of 16 match at the Vienna Open against Alex de Minaur, Italian Flavio Cobolli has also now pulled out of the Paris Masters. Cobolli, ranked 30th in the ATP rankings, was scheduled to meet Richard Gasquet in the opening round later today. But he has withdrawn from the final ATP 1000 event of the season citing muscular discomfort.
American tennis star Sebastian Korda will miss the 2024 Paris Masters due to an elbow injury. A couple of weeks ago, the 24-year-old announced that he underwent an elbow injury recently, which led to multiple withdrawals. He last played at the 2024 US Open.
However, 2024 has been memorable for the American as he won his first ATP 500 title at the Citi Open. Korda defeated the likes of Jordan Thompson, Frances Tiafoe, Flavio Cobolli, and others en route. Korda’s return date to tennis is still uncertain.
He wrote on social media, “Hi everyone, I wanted to update you all—I’ve been dealing with some elbow issues and my team and I decided surgery was the best option. Everything went great, and I can’t wait to be back in court soon. Thanks for all your support.”
Canadian tennis star Felix Augur Aliassime will miss the tournament due to back issues. He took to social media and broke the news to his fans. Auger Aliassime stated that he tried making the tournament until the last moment. However, he won’t be able to play in the French capital this year.
He wrote on social media, “I tried to give myself every last opportunity to be fit to play in Paris but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be this year. After experiencing some pain in my back during Basel, I did some testing and attempts to practice before concluding that I wouldn’t be ready to compete in Paris at the level I’d hoped for.”
With the withdrawal, Felix Augur Aliassime’s season has also come to an end. He enjoyed a bittersweet campaign in 2024. However, reaching the final in Madrid would be his best memory of the season.
Top seed Jannik Sinner has become the latest player to pull out of the ATP Paris Masters 2024 . The Italian, who had arrive early in Paris to prepare for the ATP 1000 event unfortunately fell victim to a stomach virus.
Sinner, who is guaranteed to end the season as World No. #1, announced on social media, “This is not an easy announcement to make. My team and I arrived early to prepare as best as possible, but unfortunately, I started feeling unwell during training and saw the doctor on Sunday. It turns out I’ve come down with a virus. I’m feeling better now, but I’m still not ready to compete in Paris.”
Sinner was to take to the court on Wednesday in his first match and will now shift focus to the season-ending ATP Tour finals to be held in Turin, Italy, next month.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic will miss Paris Masters 2024 due to fitness issues. The Serbian tennis star announced his withdrawal from the tournament after the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Djokovic is a seven-time champion in Paris, the most by any player in history. However, the 37-year-old will miss the latest edition. Nevertheless, the Serb can still potentially play at the 2024 ATP Finals as he’s currently sixth in the race rankings.
