WWE legend to make shock return to SmackDown and take part in huge PPV event

WWE SmackDown has secured itself another headline star for the first of two upcoming appearances.

Thirteen-time WWE Champion John Cena will be making his wrestling return in Pennsylvania next month before heading to India for the Superstar Spectacle show.

The 46-year-old took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday to confirm Fox News’ report.

“Cannot wait to reunite with the @WWE family live on #Smackdown!” Cena wrote.

“Especially excited to meet the #WWE Universe in India and wrestle for the FIRST TIME EVER in [India]! The time is NOW…. C U all VERY soon!!!”

And fans were clearly thrilled to hear the news, with one commenting: “My country of India is about to get a “Attitude Adjustment.”

A second added: “Holy s**t!! John cena is coming to india and wrestle for the first time ever LFG !!!”

As one said: “Welcome Home #India @JohnCena I Can’t Believe This Is Happing, This Just Dream Come To True.”

Following more than a year away from the ring, Cena returned last December at SmackDown when he and Kevin Owens beat Roman Reigns and Sami Zeyn.

Four months later, Cena took on Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39, which he ultimately lost meaning Theory kept a firm grasp on the United States Championship.

However, Theory would eventually lose the belt in August to Rey Mysterio.

Meanwhile, Cena went on to make an unexpected appearance at the WWE’s record-breaking Money In The Bank event in London on July 1, where Grayson Waller was on the receiving end of an “Attitude Adjustment” from Cena, as per Fox.

Looking ahead, his next appearance at SmackDown will take place at The Giant Center in Hershey on September 1.

A week later, Cena will head to India and step out at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium for the WWE’s first live event in the nation for six years.

This event won’t be televised in the U.S.

Following India, the next time the organization heads outside of North America will be in late October for WWE Live in Munich, Cologne, and Hamburg in Germany.

This will be followed by Saturday Night’s Main Event in Berlin, Sunday Stunner in London, and WWE Live in Nottingham and Glasgow.
