Roger Federer Gives Fans an Exclusive Look Behind the Scenes of an Epic Coldplay Performance

Roger Federer may have hung up his tennis racket last year, but he is still a busy man. The former world number one is leading a very eventful life post-retirement from tennis. He recently unveiled his fashion collection in New York City. With his new business venture set to take off, Roger is back in the limelight.

During a recent interview, Federer opened up about his life and how much it has changed in the past year. He spoke very candidly on a variety of topics, even touching upon his epic performance with the English band Coldplay.

“I met the band when I saw them in Montreal. I don’t know what year it was — maybe 2016? We’ve been in touch a bit,” he said. “I’ve seen Chris Martin in the Hamptons several times.”

“So when they came to Zurich, I reached out and said, “I’m so excited, I would love to come.” Chris wrote me back and asked if I wanted to come onstage.”

Roger added that his daughter nudged him to play with them. “I asked my daughter at dinner, and she looked at me and said: “You have to do this. You only live once. So I told Chris, “I’m in.” I didn’t even know what I had signed up for,” (via The New York Times).

Roger became the 5th band member for a night, playing the shaker as Chris Martin crooned a special rendition of ‘Don’t Panic’. Federer’s performance was greatly appreciated by fans worldwide.

Roger admitted that he did not know how his life would shape up once he retired. But retirement meant that he was free to dedicate his time and effort to other things, chiefly his family.

As an active player, Federer’s life had restrictions, but he has more time to spend with his family now. “I started doing more trips that are fun with the family. I took my kids to Lesotho for my foundation’s trip to Africa,” said Federer.

“We went to the Met Gala. We went on the Orient Express with my parents, things that were just not doable when I played because it took too much time away from the game,” added the former world number one.

Retirement has indeed changed his life drastically, but it looks good on him. Federer made the game richer as a player and now he continues to be a shining light for others.
