Former WWE Superstar Muhammad Hassan shared his thoughts on a career-defining moment at WrestleMania 21, where he had the opportunity to work alongside wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and his first trainer, Nick Dinsmore.
In an interview on Maven’s YouTube Channel, Hassan, whose controversial character in WWE garnered significant attention during his brief but impactful run, spoke fondly of the experience, describing it as the pinnacle of his wrestling career.
To be able to go out to WrestleMania and work with Nick Dinsmore, and with Hulk Hogan is just the highlight of my career.
Hassan reminisced. The significance of this moment was not lost on the former superstar, who emphasised the dual honour of sharing the ring with both his mentor and one of wrestling’s most iconic figures. Hassan’s words paint a picture of a surreal experience for a relatively new wrestler at the time.
I can’t emphasise it anymore, to be in there with my first trainer, who was someone that I look up to and respect pretty much more than anyone, and then Hulk Hogan comes in.
He added, his tone conveying a mix of awe and gratitude. The mention of Nick Dinsmore, better known to fans as Eugene, who played a significant role in Hassan’s early training, was not just a colleague but a respected figure in Hassan’s wrestling journey. This personal connection made the WrestleMania moment even more special for Hassan.
Muhammad Hassan recalled the moment he found out he was getting banned from appearing on WWE TV due to his portrayal of a controversial Arab American character from 2004 to 2005. On July 7th 2005 a pre-taped episode of SmackDown aired that saw Hassan’s manager Daivari lose to The Undertaker. After the match, multiple masked men attacked Undertaker and choked him out with piano wire before being carried away.
On the same day that the pre-taped SmackDown aired, a terrorist attack took place in London where 56 lives were lost. The segment drew widespread backlash from the media due to it airing on the same day as the attacks and ultimately led to network UPN ordering Hassan to no longer appear on WWE TV.
