Pole dancing in Olympics dilemma: The International Pole Sports Federation (IPSF) has applied to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be recognized as a sport, aiming to join the Olympics. According to RT.com, the IPSF’s Olympic Subcommittee has been working hard for the past 5 months in the hope of becoming an official sport. People in the organization are also struggling to sign a confirmation of compliance with the regulations and criteria of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). In 2012, the International Pole Sports Federation organized the World Pole Dancing Championships to promote this sport to the public. That year’s tournament took place in London in July and attracted 150 athletes from 30 different countries. Previously, when mentioning pole dancing, people often thought of scantily clad girls, dancing in bars or entertainment areas. However, IPSF President KT Coates wants to change people’s minds about the sport.
