Stephen Curry Reveals the Magic Behind His Iconic Olympic Shot: ‘It’s All About the Feeling!

Stephen Curry’s three-pointer over two opposing players in the men’s basketball final has become one of the most beautiful images at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Superstar Stephen Curry recently revealed how his iconic three-point shot at the Olympics took place. At Paris 2024, Curry made one of the most important three-point shots of his career to help the US team win the gold medal.

French stars Evan Fournier and Nicolas Batum tightly marked Curry in the hope of stopping his long-range shot. However, the class of the greatest shooter in NBA history spoke up at the right time before the thousands of spectators at Bercy Arena were astonished.

In fact, Curry’s shot over two French defenders was a spur-of-the-moment decision. In an interview with the press during Media Day ahead of the 2024/2025 NBA season, the Warriors star revealed that both Kevin Durant and LeBron James had open spots for shots with a higher success rate in that situation.

However, when Durant passed the ball to Curry, “Chef” (Curry’s nickname) thought the ball would go in the basket right from the moment it left his hand. Luckily, his hunch was right and the US team won against the French team.

Stephen Curry’s masterful three-point shot brings US basketball team its fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal

“Kevin Durant and LeBron James were completely open,” Curry said. “I read the body language pretty well, I looked back and I was two guys tight. I passed to Kevin. Bron was also free on the wing, but Kevin passed it back to me. I got into a rhythm and I moved, I made my move. I saw two defenders, but I got into a flow. As long as I released the ball, I felt like I was going to make it… They weren’t expecting me to make that shot.”

Despite a rocky start to the first few games at the 2024 Olympics, Stephen Curry has emerged as one of the U.S. team’s biggest heroes. He saved the Americans from defeat in two consecutive games against Serbia. Curry then went on to help the Americans win the gold medal final against France.

Looking at Curry’s stats, he was the team’s leading scorer with 24 points. All of those points came from long range, as he made 8 of 12 three-point shots. It was a truly impressive moment for the spectators in the stadium as well as those watching on the screen.

While it was fun to see Curry become a hero for a team that included stars like Kevin Durant and LeBron James, they’ll all be returning to their NBA teams now. With Klay Thompson no longer playing for the Golden State Warriors, it’ll be interesting to see what Curry can do without his “Splash Brother.”
