What Jannik Sinner was spotted doing at Melbourne Airport after winning Australian Open title

Jannik Sinner has been pictured doing one hilarious thing after his Australian Open win last week.

The Italian came from two sets down in his first-ever Grand Slam final on Sunday to defeat Daniil Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

It was a clash for the ages, and one that left fans delighted for the youngster but devastated for the affable Russian in equal measure.

But what has Sinner been up to since that momentous match? We take a closer look…

As one of the four most revered pieces of silverware, it must be protected at all costs.

Especially given how important it will be to the 22-year-old, as it truly marks the start of what promises to be an incredible career laden with many more major titles.

To have overcome such a huge obstacle so early in his career, in what was just his 17th appearance at a Grand Slam, will be massive for his career.

Coincidentally, it took Roger Federer the exact same number of tries before he too claimed his first.

Well, Sinner has now been pictured taking his protection for the trophy to new heights, with one woman snapping a picture of him standing in Melbourne Airport with a very lucrative piece of hand luggage.

Wrapped in what looks just like a drawstring sack, he lackadaisically holds what is assumed to be the Australian Open title in his right hand, a piece of luggage he has opted to bring with him as a carry-on.

Given how fresh and dominant he looked throughout this first Grand Slam of the year, Sinner will certainly have great ambitions of adding to his tally not just across his career, but actually within this season.

After all, Nick Kyrgios has already predicted him to go deep in the US Open, having previously enjoyed runs to the Roland Garros quarter-finals and Wimbledon semi-finals.

A consistent performer who will be seeking to build upon his status as the world number four, there is every chance that he could challenge in every major this year.

Especially given the calibre of opponent he has already faced to earn that maiden Grand Slam title, with Medvedev and Novak Djokovic two of just three players higher ranked than he is.

Sinner has already showcased his penchant for the big occasion with an immense forehand, remarkable mental fortitude and an unrelenting work rate.

Should he manage to find some consistency throughout 2024, it could turn into a legendary year in which he establishes himself as the new driving force of men’s tennis.
