Cody Rhodes Discusses How CM Punk ‘Set The Bar High’ with His Recent WWE Appearance

Cody Rhodes has admitted that he might have to step his game up when it comes to making the night special for the fans following on from a recent act of generosity by CM Punk.

Nearly every week footage from dark matches and non-televised events pops up on social media of Rhodes giving the fans a night to remember by taking photos, signing autographs or even inviting fans into the ring. However, at the time of writing, Rhodes has yet to provide food for an arena full of fans, which is what CM Punk did while at NXT on October 1st. As the show went off the air, Punk let the Chicago crowd know that there was free pizza waiting for them when they left the venue, a gesture which unsurprisingly proved to be very popular.

Cody Rhodes Explains Why CM Punk "Set The Bar High" With Recent WWE Appearance

While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Rhodes elaborated on the importance of having that real moment with the fans and how Punk outdid him with the generosity shown at NXT:

“You’re talking about this record business the WWE is doing. I’ve watched it because I grew up in it. It goes up, and it comes down, it goes up, and I know where I’d like to get the WWE at. I know WWE is expanding, I know our marching orders, so that stuff we do at the end of the night is, it really should be mandatory. For me, it feels like it’s part of it because it’s a way to reach across, connect with people and have that real moment with them. Let them know so, ‘I’m your guy, I’m your girl, whatever.

WWE has a really good thing when it comes to the live events, live TVs, about just making sure that everybody leaves extremely happy. Prime example, CM Punk really outdid me in the gifts department, he bought pizza for all of Allstate Arena last night. I can’t imagine the pizza bill. That’s a babyface, and it should challenge everybody else, myself included…That was a very nice gesture of CM Punk to do so. He set the bar high.”

The Undisputed Champion will be in action at Bad Blood on October 5th as he teams with Roman Reigns to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu of The Bloodline. Ahead of the show, Cody Rhodes teased that there would be “big title” implications at the WWE PLE.
