“I feel like I can help people keep their family relationships alive and bring people together through food. Who wouldn’t want to do that?” revealed Ayesha Curry during a BuzzFeed interview. While it is Stephen Curry who carries the ‘Chef Curry’ moniker, it’s his wife who has the cooking gene imbibed in her. Along with investing in her own wine brand and cookware line, Ayesha penned cookbooks and hosted her own food shows, occasionally adding her own unique touches to well-known recipes. Therefore, with her passion for cooking going strong, she recently took it upon herself to do her part in ensuring that the hooper’s upcoming game goes well.
Stephen Curry and Co. have won both their initial regular season games. Now, they’ll be hosting a rival on their turf for the first time this season. The LA Clippers have always been tough competitors for the Bay Area franchise, currently holding a 6-4 win record against them, along with a 3-win streak. Wanting for the Warriors‘ lead scorer to head to the game at least with a healthy meal, Ayesha recently took to her Instagram to highlight Steph’s pregame dinner.
The dish she introduced to her 7.9 million followers was a Creamy Basil Ravioli with blistered candied tomatoes, sweet corn, and grilled prawns accompanying it. Ayesha also added a garlic and herb tomahawk, cause how else will he get his infusion of protein?
Being on a losing streak against the Clippers is just one part of the Warriors’ problem. According to Statmuse, Stephen Curry and Co. hold a 10-10 record in the games at Chase Center. With home-court advantage, the win ratio should have been higher. As a result, the GSW legend needs every bit of help during the upcoming game, whether it is through a bit of luck, or having a good pregame dinner.
Over the years, NBA enthusiasts and fans of the Currys have gotten quite a few glimpses of the meals that the culinary enthusiast of the house makes before an important game. Last year, for Steph’s first pre-game meal of the season, Ayesha had prepared a dish of short ribs and creamy polenta. Taking to her official Instagram account, she provided a glimpse of when they prepared the meal and when they completed it, hinting at the effort that goes into preparing something that comes off as both nutritious and delicious.
Later, in January of this year, Ayesha took the initiative for breakfast as well, preparing a meal that consisted of everything from protein to carbs and fiber. Mama Curry highlighted the breakfast portion that the hooper was to consume before the matchup against the Orlando Magic on social media, with the caption, “Game day breakfast for my chooch.”
Similarly to LeBron James, Stephen Curry stands as a testament to veterans who seem even more unstoppable the older they get. Just like the Laker, the sharpshooter has been quite open about his diet plan, revealing that he looks to consume at least 3000 calories a day. As a result, the list of what the hooper is required to consume is pretty limited.
According to reports, the NBA player’s daily intake includes things from chicken, salmon, and pasta to rice, and veggies. In regards to the veggies, there is a broader list of food items that differentiate from broccoli and Brussels sprouts to asparagus.
In a 2017 interview, Ayesha touched base on the player’s pre-game ritual of consuming pasta, stating, “From beginning to the end of the season, (I make) my game day pasta recipe. I sneak eggplant, spinach, and all sorts of goodies into the sauce. I make it before every single game.”
According to Mashed, the NBA’s all-time three-point leader once had a thing for chicken parm, with the dish being his go-to! However, the hooper would later convert his taste buds to enjoying some more of Rasta Pasta.
While keeping the majority of things healthy in his diet plan, there is one item that Curry has publicly admitted to consuming during different intervals at games. Believe it or not, but it’s Popcorn!
One advantage of playing away from home was that the player could enjoy the different offerings in the various arenas, stating, “If it’s really good, I’m eating it before the game, at halftime, and after.” It even compelled him to once put out a ranking to highlight which arena serves the best popcorn. Given that the Crypto.Com Arena ended up last on the list, Clippers owner Steve Ballmer may have used that as an excuse to seek Curry’s advice on which popcorn to serve in the newly opened $2 billion Intuit Dome!
The Warriors-Clippers matchup will commence in less than a day. Whether Ayesha Curry’s dish will do its trick is a query that the Bay Area community will certainly look to get the answer to. What do you think?
