WWE Bad Blood had a big buzz going into the show on Saturday. The premium live event started with an exhausting and intense Hell in a Cell match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Nia Jax then defended her WWE Women’s Title against Bayley. Damian Priest squared off with his former brother Finn Balor. Rhea Ripley battled Liv Morgan and The Bloodline battled Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.
The show ended with two huge returns.
Here are your winners and losers for WWE Bad Blood 2024:
Winner: Punk Out-Survives McIntyre In Hell in a Cell
CM Punk emerged victorious in a brutal Hell in a Cell match against Drew McIntyre. The bout began with a flurry of punches before McIntyre introduced a toolbox and a table, using a ripped-off table leg to try and wear down Punk. The physicality escalated quickly, with both superstars shedding blood.
McIntyre seemed to gain the upper hand with a devastating Claymore kick outside the ring and by viciously driving Punk’s head into the steel steps. Punk rallied back, delivering a series of knee strikes and a Go to Sleep (GTS), only for McIntyre to roll out of the ring.
The two continued trading punishing blows and near-falls, thrilling the crowd who responded with chants of “This is awesome!” The tide turned when McIntyre hit a White Noise onto steel steps, and Punk barely kicked out. The match teetered on the edge of disaster as Punk locked in an Anaconda Vice, but McIntyre fought back with a wrench and a desperate low blow.
In the end, McIntyre’s attempt to deliver a final Claymore backfired, allowing Punk to wrap a chain around his knee and hit a devastating GTS for the victory. With both men battered and bloodied, Punk stood tall. Medical staff attended to both competitors, but neither wanted the assistance.
Loser: Bayley vs. Nia Jax
This match had its moments, but there were several instances where it was unclear who was delivering the offense. At times, it seemed like Bayley initiated a move, yet Jax appeared to come out on top. In other moments, it looked like Jax hit a maneuver, only for Bayley to end up gaining the advantage. These confusing sequences happened too frequently for the match to be considered a success.
The official Jessica Carr got caught in the middle of the fight and got squashed by Jax. Tiffany Stratton came down to the ring and it looked like she was going to cash in but as the referee was coming to, Jax sat up like The Undertaker and stared at her friend. It was if something from beyond told her Tiffy was going to take advantage. Ultimately, Stratton backed down and helped Jax, distracting Bayley long enough for Jax to hit a Samoan Drop and a splash onto Bayley for the win. Jax walked away angry, but still the champion. Stratton had a look on her face like perhaps her plan had been foiled.
This would have been a good time to have Stratton cash in and the live crowd was all for it. WWE chose not to pull the trigger.
Winner: Damian Priest Defeats Finn Balor
This was a solid match with back-and-forth action. Judgment Day predictably got involved as the match wore on and while it didn’t work, there were teases that Finn Balor might pull off the unexpected win. Ultimately, Damian Priest caught Balor in mid-air during a third attempt at a Coup de Gras. Priest hit a South of Heaven for the win. It’s tough to know what would have been the better outcome here. Should Balor have gotten the win when it looked like Priest would overcome the odds? Or, do what WWE did and have Priest win the battle despite the numbers disadvantage.
Judgment Day is starting to look like they’re not terribly capable without Priest and Rhea Ripley. If Liv Morgan loses her match later in the night, one has to wonder where WWE takes the group after this.
Winner: New Crown Jewel Title And A Goldberg Tease
Triple H announced a new tradition: the WWE Champion and World Champion—both male and female—will compete annually at Crown Jewel, with the winner crowned as the “Crown Jewel Champion.” He unveiled a diamond-studded title belt representing the best of the best.
Gunther then interrupted, stating his desire to win the new championship but first had to defend his title against Sami Zayn. Gunther escalated tensions by mocking Goldberg and his son Gage, leading Goldberg to jump the barricade, only to be held back by security.
Sami Zayn used the distraction to attack Gunther, resulting in a wild brawl. After the chaos, Triple H stood with Goldberg, hinting at a future match between him and Gunther by saying, “You’re next.” This sets the stage for a potential showdown between the two powerhouses as the Crown Jewel era begins. If this match happens, it would be a great way to send Goldberg off and to build upon Gunther’s legacy.
Winner/Loser: Raquel Rodriguez Returns To Help Liv Morgan
The Women’s World Title match was next as Liv Morgan battled Rhea Ripley with Dominik hanging above the entryway in a shark cage. This match was unlike the first women’s bout. Morgan and Ripley hit every move with precision and traded exchanges. It was Morgan dominating first and working the leg, hitting a few big moves. Then it was Ripley’s turn, hitting some big moves of her own. Dominik somehow got the cage open and fell out, getting his foot caught in a chain. As he was dangling, Ripley decided to treat him like a pinata and beat the stuffing out of him.
Out of nowhere, Raquel Rodriguez showed up and attacked Ripley. The match was thrown out, but Rodriguez continued to attack Ripley and help Morgan up. Is she just helping Morgan? Or, is she joining Judgment Day? The finish of this match took away from how good the bout was. Rodriguez’s involvement feels like it came out of left field and doesn’t really make sense. WWE will potentially explain this on Monday, but the return didn’t necessarily have the impact creative was probably hoping it would.
Winner: Bloodline vs. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns
WWE choosing to put this tag match on last was the right choice. Considering the action and the two big returns that were part of the booking, this wouldn’t have worked if it had gone on first. This match started with a very slow pace. WWE was building up the anticipation for what was to come. Things stayed at a methodical pace, focused on the big tags and the big moments. Roman Reigns squaring off with Jacob Fatu had the crowd in a stir. Cody going through the table on Fatu was a huge spot.
When Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga showed up to help a hooded figure appeared. Jimmy Uso superkicked the Tongans and then started at Solo Sikoa, allowing Roman Reigns to hit a spear for the win. Cody and Roman Reigns stood face to face and showed a measure of respect for what they’d accomplished despite not being friends. When The Bloodline attacked Cody after the match, Jimmy convinced Roman to go back and help. They cleared the ring. The Rock’s music then hit.
He stood in the entryway and stared at Roman and Cody. It wasn’t clear who he was focused on, but it was clear he wasn’t impressed with how things unfolded.
