Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill Should Still Be WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions

At the 2024 Clash at the Castle: Scotland premium live event, the show saw one singular title change in the form of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill losing their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. After a reign that lasted just over a month, WWE’s newest powerhouse duo are now no longer champions, and this was a major error. There are, of course, several factors to consider, but there is a mightily strong argument to be made that WWE have made a mistake in their booking of both women and for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, which have been mired by bad booking for a long time.

The Women’s Tag Team Championship Have Been Elevated By Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill

Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill Defeated The Kabuki Warriors At Backlash

  • The women’s tag team division has had a lot of bad luck and bad booking
  • The Women’s Tag Team Championships were featured on four straight PLEs
  • It doesn’t make sense to have Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill lose

At Backlash 2024, Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair defeated the Kabuki Warriors to become the brand new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. The pair were given a great presentation, looking like world beaters, powerhouses, and stars, and instantly the titles were elevated. Belair and Cargill were provided with plenty of screen time, fans became very aware of their characters and personalities, and they were getting consistent spots on PLE. For the first time since the titles were established, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships were featured on four consecutive PLE cards (pre-shows included), which just goes to show how much more focus there has been on the division.

Jade Cargill should not feel bad about her slip-up on Saturday.

Belair and Cargill have been booked very strongly, dominating opposition and powering through a few teams in the division. With how well the titles were looking, it was a baffling decision to have WWE change track and give someone else the gold. For the last five years, the titles have gone through multiple ups and downs, but 2024 has been very steady, especially with the high-profile and popular pairing of Cargill and Belair. However, their reign is now at an end.

Changing The Tag Team Titles Was A Mistake For The Women’s Division

Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre Had A Shocking Win At Clash At The Castle

It made sense for WWE to crown the Scottish Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre at Clash at the Castle, giving the fans something to cheer about with both Drew McIntyre and Piper Niven losing, but this came at the expense of what could have become the best Women’s Tag Team Championship reign of all time. Belair and Cargill were raising the division higher, and seeing them continue on for months and months undefeated, going to NXT, RAW, SmackDown, and maybe even TNA, would have ultimately elevated whoever beat them.

Bianca Belair is known for her very long hair braid and has even used it as a weapon, but is it real?

As ever with this division, WWE changed the champions before they had a chance to really solidify their reign. Out of the 26 different WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship reigns, there have only been eight that have lasted over 100 days, and many of those were not memorable in the slightest. As talented as Dawn and Fyre are, their presentation has been so lackluster on a weekly basis that it feels likely for them to just get lost back in the shuffle of a division that hardly has any depth anyway. WWE have not earned the trust with this division for fans to expect anything good to come of a reign between two names who barely have a character. It was simply too soon for WWE to change these titles, especially with it only being because the company held a show in Scotland.

Jade Cargill Would Benefit From Being In The Tag Team Division

Jade Cargill Is Not Ready To Be A Singles Star

Not only does the division as a whole lose out from Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair dropping the gold, but Cargill will suffer a great deal. Losing the gold only means one thing – time is nearly up for Belair and Cargill as a tag team, and a heel turn from one of the two will be happening in the near future. As proven by her in-ring work, Cargill is not yet ready to branch out on her own in WWE, and still needs more time to develop, despite her strong singles run in AEW.

Jade Cargill has star-power in spades, and these are the best looks of her wrestling career so far, both in and out of the ring,

Working alongside Belair has done well to protect her but also to help her improve, and taking that away so soon could be a detriment to her future in WWE. Additionally, a much longer reign would make a break-up and feud feel all the more impactful and earned, whereas now the whole thing has a chance of feeling rushed. Across the board, this was a poor booking decision from WWE.
