Carlos Alcaraz and Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero Share Playful ‘Scuffle’ During Paris Masters Training

Carlos Alcaraz got into a lighthearted scuffle with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero during a training session at the 2024 Paris Masters. Alcaraz will begin his campaign in Paris against Nicolas Jarry in the second round.

A tennis-related X account has posted a video of Alcaraz with his team on the training courts at the Paris Masters. The Spaniard appears to be chatting with his team when coach Ferrero lifts a bag and playfully aims a kick in his direction, though it doesn’t connect. Alcaraz responded with mock punches.

During a press conference ahead of the 2024 Paris Masters, Carlos Alcaraz was reminded of his previous performances at the event. He has not achieved much success at the final Masters 1000 event of the season and the Spaniard feels it could be because of the event’s timing.

“Well, yeah. I haven’t played good tennis here in this tournament. Probably at the end of the year, I have been tired, or yeah, as I said last year, I had to understand that the season is still going after September,” Alcaraz said.
“And I think I did prepare really well this year. So I don’t know, you know. The calendar is super tight, super demanding, as well. So coming to the last tournament of the year, probably I have been tired the last year, didn’t play as well as I wanted, but coming to this year, I think I’m feeling different,” he added.

Further, Alcaraz expressed confidence in his preparation, noting he’s been putting in strong work recently. He is optimistic about achieving better results than last year.

At the Paris Masters in 2023, Alcaraz had a disappointing loss in his campaign opener against Roman Safiullin. In 2022, the Spaniard reached the quarterfinals as the top seed and had to retire from the match against Holger Rune. In 2021, Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in the second round and was defeated by Hugo Gaston in the third round.

This year, second seed Alcaraz will face Nicolas Jarry in the second round. The winner faces either Ugo Humbert or Marcos Giron.
