CM Punk’s 10 Best WWE Matches

image

This is arguably the best match WWE has ever had since the Attitude Era ended. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25 was a great match, but an emotional storyline wasn’t really a part of the build-up for that match. John Cena vs. CM Punk however for Money in the Bank had the best storyline WWE has conjured up in many years. CM Punk was legitimately going to leave WWE when his contract expired back in July 17th, 2011. WWE was shocked about this and incorporated his real-life situation into a storyline. As a result of this, you had a match and build-up that has never been replicated ever since. The famous “pipebomb” promo was part of the build-up to this excellent match. The match itself did not disappoint and WWE really needed a spark like this in 2011. The first half of 2011 is regarded as a very bad time in the company with a mediocre WWE Champion in The Miz that led to a horrible WrestleMania 27. This match however proved you really need people that can actually wrestle to gain the respect from wrestling fans. This match was over 30 minutes of just pure brilliance. There was never a dull moment in the match and the Chicago crowd made the atmosphere so much better. It’s also impressive that WWE managed to keep the finish and CM Punk’s status with the company a secret to everyone. The dirtsheet wrestling websites didn’t even know what was going to happen. The finish to this match was awesome and the crowd went nuts when CM Punk left the arena with the WWE Title.
