Cody Rhodes is still determined to make this change in WWE.
At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes finally finished his story when he defeated Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The American Nightmare is the first man in his family to hold the historic WWE Title, and Rhodes has often discussed the possibility of bringing back the beloved Winged Eagle version of the belt.
Back in August, Cody Rhodes once again spoke about his fondness for the Winged Eagle belt, admitting that he wants to bring the title back despite feeling connected to the version of the title he won from Reigns.
In a new interview with Superstar Crossover, Rhodes was asked by interviewer Josh Martinez whether he still wanted to bring back the iconic design. Rhodes made it clear that it’s still a goal of his, saying:
“I’m so glad you asked. Please know, anyone who ever heard me say the words ‘Winged Eagle Title,’ I actively am still on the hunt. I am still on the mission, and if anything, I have shown in the past, even if it’s for a single night or fleeting, I try to be a man of my word. So, I’m working on it.”
Roman Reigns recently returned to television as SmackDown returned to the USA Network on September 13th. Reigns helped old foe Cody Rhodes fend off an attack from the Solo Sikoa-led Bloodline, and it was later confirmed that Reigns and Rhodes will team up to take on Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at Bad Blood on October 5th.
