On a special Title Tuesday episode of AEW Dynamite, it looked like everything would be about the setup for this week’s WrestleDream, which could see the last full-time match in Bryan Danielson’s career. We also got a surprise though, as Daniel Garcia returned to the ring for a promo. There, he addressed speculation about his contract ending and the possibility of him leaving, before announcing that he wasn’t going anywhere. Sorry WWE and NXT, Daniel Garcia is staying where he’s at.
While a move to WWE might be tempting for Daniel Garcia, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Daniel Garcia first showed up backstage in Spokane, Washington with Renee Paquette, but instead of answering her question about his AEW status, he told her he’d be telling the crowd himself. In the ring, Garcia spoke about how much he’d missed being in front of the fans, who gave him a “Welcome back!” chant. After thanking Tony Khan for giving him the time, Garcia said he’s been sitting at home contemplating about what is best for his life. He said those answers aren’t always easy or the most popular. He’s not the guy who disappears with no explanation, so he wanted to look everyone in the eye and tell them what he was going to do.
Daniel Garcia looked sad and torn, as if he was about to announce that he was leaving for WWE, but if you’re a long-time wrestling fan, you’ve seen this before and knew where it was going next. Garcia said:
“I feel like I came to the conclusion that Daniel Garcia can do whatever he wants, because Daniel Garcia is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. And the thing is, I feel like, because I am one of the best professionals in the world, that it’s only right that I stay where the best wrestle, AEW.”
Daniel Garcia promised a different version of himself than we’ve seen before. For the wrestlers in the back, he said no champion was safe, and he was coming for their gold.
Seeing as AEW’s Daniel Garcia has not been around that long, it is fair to assume that many wrestling fans do not know that much about him.
What’s Next For Daniel Garcia In AEW?
This was Daniel Garcia’s first appearance in AEW since All Out, where he lost to MJF, but then beat up his opponent so badly afterward that he had to be taken out on a stretcher. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a more ruthless Daniel Garcia. He’s been with AEW for years and has all the wrestling talent in the world, but he’s often been on the low midcard, or been stuck with his dancing gimmick, which, while popular with fans, didn’t get him taken too seriously and could only take him so far up the card. Here’s hoping the best version of Daniel Garcia is about to be unleashed in AEW.
