Djokovic Slips from His Peak as Sinner’s Power Grows Exponentially

(Sports news, tennis news) Djokovic has many problems and cannot compete, Sinner has more room to perform.

Novak Djokovic is facing many problems so he cannot “wholeheartedly” return to tennis. After the shocking loss at Indian Wells, Djokovic decided not to attend the Miami Open, and recently the Serbian star announced his separation from talented coach Goran Ivanisevic (Croatia).

Djokovic (right) is absent, Sinner has the opportunity to win major titles, increasing confidence

In Djokovic’s absence, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have more room to perform. The two players have made that happen by winning the Indian Wells championship (Alcaraz), and most recently Sinner won the Miami Open.

At the moment, with Djokovic absent, Sinner is a player who is rated higher than Alcaraz by experts. And if Djokovic does not show his best form soon in Monte Carlo (April 7-14) in France, Sinner will have more opportunities to build his confidence.

Speaking recently to Tennis Channel, former 18-time Grand Slam singles champion Martina Navratilova affirmed: “Djokovic’s absence from the top is unfortunate. Sinner is the best player right now, he has the strongest mentality compared to other players. He is building his skills and confidence to a new level.”

Navratilova believes that Nole’s absence helps Sinner increase his “power”: “That gives him (Sinner) a lot of peace of mind because he knows he doesn’t have to try too hard. He doesn’t have to come up with many complicated strategies to win the match, while his opponent does. I think this is what has been helping Sinner gain more confidence.”

According to the Monte Carlo 2024 seeding list, Djokovic and Sinner are both included as the top two seeds. The pair can only meet if they overcome all opponents to win a ticket to the final.
