Every WWE Bad Blood PPV, Ranked Worst To Best

WWE’s Bad Blood will be returning in October for the first time in two decades. With a stacked card set to feature a Hell in a Cell match and the in-ring return of Roman Reigns, the show promises to be one of the strongest in the event’s history. However, the three WWE Bad Blood premium live events that have already happened all provided impressive cards, too.

The fact that these events are so fondly remembered is why the WWE Universe was excited about their return. In the past, WWE has put a lot of effort into making the shows a big deal, including some of the most important matches in WWE history.

3 Badd Blood: In Your House Was Carried By One Match

The Main Event Is One Of The Most Historic Matches In WWE History

Shawn Michaels v Undertaker Badd Blood Cropped
Match Winner
The Nation Of Domination vs. The Legion Of Doom The Nation Of Domination
Max Mini & Nova vs. Mosaic & Tarantula Max Mini & Nova
The Godwinns vs. The Headbangers (WWE Tag Team Title Match) The Godwinns
Owen Hart vs. Farooq (Intercontinental Title Match) Owen Hart
The Disciples of Apocalypse vs. Los Boricuas The Disciples of Apocalypse
Bret Hart & The British Bulldog vs. The Patriot & Vader (Flag Match) Bret Hart & The British Bulldog
Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (Hell in a Cell Match) Shawn Michaels

The first WWE Bad Blood event took place in 1997 and was part of the In Your House run of shows. It featured some of the biggest names in wrestling history, from Bret Hart to The Undertaker, but it wasn’t the strongest show in terms of in-ring content.

Of course, the Hitman teaming with British Bulldog led to an engaging match, but it ran on a little too long. The rest of the undercard lacked anything overly memorable. However, Owen Hart and Farooq were able to create a compelling bout, but it was the main event that saved this show. This was the first ever Hell in a Cell match, which helped make it an iconic show that few people would ever forget about.

It’s far from the best match in this stipulation’s history, with The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels going back and forth, but it was still entertaining enough. However, it’s the fact that Kane made his monumental debut in this moment to close the show that ensured nobody would ever forget it.

This Event Was Headlined By A Classic Hell In A Cell Match

Kevin Nash v Triple H Bad Blood 2003 Cropped
Match Winner
Christopher Nowinski & Rodney Mack vs. The Dudley Boyz Christopher Nowinski & Rodney Mack
Scott Steiner vs. Test (Winner get managerial services of Stacy Keibler) Scott Steiner
Booker T vs. Christian (Intercontinental Title Match) Booker T
La Resistance vs. Kane & RVD (World Tag Team Title Match) La Resistance
Goldberg vs. Chris Jericho Goldberg
Ric Flair vs. Shawn Michaels Ric Flair
Steve Austin vs. Eric Bischoff (Redneck Triathlon Match) Steve Austin
Triple H vs. Kevin Nash (Hell In A Cell World Heavyweight Title Match) Triple H

In 2003, WWE brought the event back and stacked the cards with some big matches. Goldberg clashing against a long-time rival in Chris Jericho, Booker T, and Christian having an Intercontinental Championship match, and Ric Flair facing Shawn Michaels all bolstered the undercard.

Everyone involved brought their best to the ring throughout the show, which meant that fans were entertained from start to finish. However, the show was lacking in one classic technical match that people would be able to latch onto and remember. Still, the quality was higher on average than the previous show.

The main event was another Hell in a Cell match as Triple H and Kevin Nash pushed each other to their limits. It was physical and entertaining, with fans wrapped up in the drama of what they were trying to tell people. It’s not a show that fans still remember vividly, but it was certainly a good ‘B’ level event.

A Classic Grudge Match Closed The Show In Style

Triple H v Shawn Michaels Bad Blood 2004 Cropped
Match Winner
Chris Benoit & Edge vs. La Resistance (World Tag Team Championship Match) Chris Benoi & Edge
Chris Jericho vs. Tyson Tomko Chris Jericho
Randy Orton vs. Shelton Benjamin (Intercontinental Title Match) Randy Orton
Trish Stratus vs. Victoria vs Lita vs. Gail Kim (Women’s Championship Match) Trish Stratus
Eugene vs. Jonathan Coachman Eugene
Chris Benoit vs. Kane (World Heavyweight Title Match) Chris Benoit
Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels (Hell In A Cell Match) Triple H

Out of all the WWE Bad Blood shows, the 2004 edition was the most memorable as it featured tons of entertaining in-ring matches. There was lots for people to latch onto here, from entertaining tag team bouts to great mid-card encounters, all rounded out with an incredibly violent main event.

Randy Orton and Shelton Benjamin had one of the best matches on the night, with the two men out to prove themselves at this stage of their careers. Although the Women’s Championship match lasted less than five minutes despite featuring four women, the main event managed to wrap up the show impressively.

Once again, it was a Hell in a Cell match, and Triple H was involved, this time squaring off against Shawn Michaels. They were in the middle of a great feud at the time, and the fact that they were close friends in real life meant they didn’t hold back inside the ring. It was a brutal and violent encounter that people still talk about today.

However, despite this being the best of the three WWE Bad Blood events it didn’t end up returning afterward and has remained off the books until its return this year.
