While not official because the show hasn’t aired yet, WWE is adding a blockbuster match to the upcoming Crown Jewel event.
Spoiler: If you don’t want to know what’s coming out of next week’s SmackDown and what has been added to the Crown Jewel card, do not keep reading:
WWE Adds New Bloodline vs. Original Bloodline Match To Crown Jewel
In a huge match that will be set up on the night before Crown Jewel takes place, PWInsider is reporting that WWE is teaming Roman Reigns and The Usos up against members of The Bloodline. The announcement follows the most recent SmackDown tapings — which took place this Friday night because the roster will be traveling next week. Jey Uso made a surprise move by reuniting with Jimmy Uso and Reigns after helping them in their tag team feud.
This all started when The Bloodline interfered in Jey’s Intercontinental Title defense on Raw. Solo Sikoa and his crew helped Bron Breakker secure the title from Jey. Seeking retribution, Jey showed up this past Friday on SmackDown, interfering in a tag team title match that saw Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa lose their championships to The Motor City Machine Guns.
This week’s SmackDown included a wild last 40 minutes, with the crowing of new champions and an Uso reunion.
Jimmy and Jey embraced as Reigns watched on.
During the tapings set to air next Friday, an in-ring promo segment showed a unified Reigns and The Usos, hinting that Crown Jewel will see them take on a reformed Bloodline faction. Understandably, WWE has yet to specify the exact members joining Solo for the bout.
Crown Jewel’s Card Is Stacked
Crown Jewel 2024 promises a huge card that includes serious marquee matchups. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is set to face World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER in a match for the Crown Jewel Championship. Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will do battle against Women’s Champion Nia Jax in another Crown Jewel Title challenge.
In addition, the United States Championship will be on the line as LA Knight faces off against Andrade and Carmelo Hayes in a triple-threat match. Other exciting bouts include Seth Rollins going one-on-one with Bronson Reed and Randy Orton returning to take on Kevin Owens. A four-team women’s tag team title match was also added this past week.
WWE isn’t holding anything back when it comes to the event. They are making Crown Jewel one of the year’s biggest events. That this Bloodline match was added last minute shows how loaded the card is.
If there’s an argument against what WWE is doing, it’s that they didn’t take the time to properly build up the match after it was made. That said, most of the build happened before the bout was, or will be, announced.
