Jake Roberts Reveals How He Revived the Career of a WWE Hall of Famer!

WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts opened up about a pivotal moment in his wrestling career that not only shaped his own trajectory but also played a crucial role in reviving the career of a fellow Hall of Famer, Junkyard Dog.

Roberts, in an episode of his podcast “The Snake Pit“, revealed the reasoning behind his decision to leave Stampede Wrestling for Mid-South Wrestling in the late 1970s. The move, as it turns out, was driven by a desire for growth and familial connections.

Well, familiarity. My father was there, and I knew that I could learn a lot there, and that’s kind of what I was wanting to do, was to keep learning. I knew that I would learn in Mid-South. So I put a call in, and got the green light and off to Mid-South I went.

Roberts’ move to Mid-South Wrestling set the stage for an unexpected turn of events that would impact the career of Junkyard Dog. Roberts recounted:

Once I got there I told him [Bill Watts] about JYD, that he had gotten his act together and was a piece of talent they should be interested in. And it didn’t take long before JYD was there.

Jake Roberts recalled how he attended the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony expecting a fight, Roberts remembered how he had heat with The Ultimate Warrior due to Warrior resigning from WWE mid-way through a storyline he was having with Roberts which left Roberts without an opponent, which Roberts held resentment towards Warrior for.
