Jannik Sinner & Aryna Sabalenka Take NYC by Storm: Inside the US Open Champs’ Media Blitz

How do you celebrate a Grand Slam victory in a city like New York?

For US Open winners Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka, it apparently was less about splashing out and more about enjoying the simple things—like hamburgers and fries with the team, at least according to one of the newly crowned champions.

The mens and womens US Open singles winners were out and about in Manhattan on Monday, following their victories at the year’s last Grand Slam. Sinner and Sabalenka were booked and busy for a packed schedule of photoshoots and talk shows, including the TODAY Show and Kelly & Mark.

“We spent time with the team, we had fun, we had drinks, good food,” Sabalenka told TODAY hosts about her post-final celebrations, during a joint interview with Sinner.

“You know, we just need to feel this relief… (we had) a lot of Marg-Arynas!”

When the same question was posed to Sinner, his response had the studio cracking up in laughter: “I’m a bit cheaper, I guess!”

“I always love to celebrate with food,” he added. “I love food, even if I am like this,” he said, holding up a pinky finger to highlight his lean figure. “I love hamburgers, I love French fries… And then after, we also celebrate in a different way…”

On Kelly & Mark, Sabalenka teased a follow-up to her now viral offer to buy everyone on Arthur Ashe Stadium a drink if they support her to victory in the women’s final.

“I offered them drinks!” she laughed. “I tried my best, and actually I think it helped! In this final I felt much more support than I did last year.”

For any viewers looking to take her up on the offer, the world No. 2 took to social media after the interview to unveil a unique promo with Maestro Dobel Tequila, her sponsor and the official tequila of the US Open. Cheers, Aryna!

Sinner, meanwhile, charmed Kelly & Mark hosts by personally delivering them each a US Open hat—which he grabbed out of his men’s singles trophy. The 22-year-old said he attributed his Grand Slam success to his consistency this year, and referenced overcoming ‘certain circumstances off the court’ on his way to victory in Flushing Meadows.

“I started great this season winning in Australia my first Grand Slam,” he recalled. “That was a kind of relief. This one is a bit different. Also because of certain circumstances off the court, it was not easy to play this Grand Slam.

“We just went day by day, and in my mind, knowing that I could potentially win a Grand Slam because I’ve done it already… it’s all a part of the process of becoming a better tennis player.”
