Jannik Sinner’s Girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya Unwinds in Russia With Soccer Star Brother After Intense New York Fortnight

Throughout the US Open fortnight, Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya were a constant source of support for each other. Kalinskaya was frequently spotted in the stands during Sinner’s matches, cheering passionately and sharing moments of encouragement that showcased their strong bond.  Even after Sinner’s triumphant victory, the celebrations continued as they were seen enjoying in New York City, basking in the glory of the Italian’s first US Open title. But after a hectic run of matches, Kalinskaya is now taking a well-deserved break back home in Russia.

The 25-year-old spends quality time with her family, particularly her brother Nikolay Kalinsky, a professional soccer player. Known for her active presence on social media, Kalinskaya took to Instagram to show the fans what she’s been up to on her days off the court. Candidly sharing a glimpse of her downtime, Sinner’s girlfriend reposted her brother’s Instagram picture, captioning it as “Family time.”

Kalinskaya has been making headlines not only for her impressive performances on the court but also for her supportive relationship with Sinner. While Sinner continues to excel on the ATP tour, dominating opponents with his powerful groundstrokes, Kalinskaya’s own performances have raised expectations for her future.

After achieving a career-high ranking of No.14, Kalinskaya seems to have transformed into quite a formidable competitor on the WTA Tour. In the recently finished US Open, she powered through her early matches with supreme confidence. However, her match against Beatriz Haddad Maia in the third round tested her skills and determination. She eventually didn’t come up as the victor and got eliminated from the tournament, but the Russian left the court with no regrets.

But apart from her on-court performances, Kalinskaya has recently also been in the news for off-court reasons.

During the US Open, not everything was smooth sailing for Kalinskaya. She found herself in the spotlight for reasons beyond her understanding. Kalinskaya was reportedly in a brief relationship with the Aussie star Nick Kyrgios in 2020 and one of their old pictures recently surfaced on social media. All hell broke loose when Kyrgios made a bizarre comment reacting to that picture. “Second Serve,” the Aussie wrote.

While nobody was quite sure what Kyrgios wanted to imply with those two words, most of the fans saw it as an offensive comment. Immediately, Kyrgios received major backlash on social media, as fans demanded his ouster from the ESPN commentary team for the US Open. Even though the Aussie defended himself saying he was not being abusive to anyone, and later deleted his comment, the criticism continued.

Kalinskaya though remained calm amid the controversy, as she kept cheering Jannik Sinner on, from the sidelines at Flushing Meadows. The Italian didn’t let his girlfriend down, as he beat Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the final to lift the first-ever US Open title of his career.

Now as Kalinskaya takes a well-deserved break in Russia after her boyfriend’s successful run in New York, the fans will hope that the detractors cut the couple some slack.
