A historic and emotional moment occurred during the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns this morning. LeBron James and his son LeBron James Jr. (often called Bronny James) took the court together as teammates.

The special moment occurred at the beginning of the second half when Bronny and LeBron James entered the field together, creating an unprecedented image in the history of the tournament. It was even more memorable because this image appeared on the occasion of Bronny’s 20th birthday.

“As a father, it means a lot,” LeBron James said of the historic moment. “As someone who grew up without these privileges, I’m really grateful that I can provide for my son and be a positive influence.

And then being able to stand on the same field, compete together, be colleagues. I think that’s the greatest thing a father can hope for, even wish he could do in his life.

More than 4 minutes was the time LeBron and Bronny James shared the court. While LeBron continued to show extremely impressive performance with a series of scoring and assisting, Bronny seemed to be mentally unstable, making 3 mistakes in losing the ball and failing to shoot.

After all, this was just a preseason friendly, and winning or losing wasn’t that important. The minutes could have been longer if head coach JJ Redick had tried to make it easier for the Jameses to enjoy the game together.

However, the new Lakers captain did not do that: “I want them to have that special moment without being too forced, but witnessing the father and son playing together is really a special feeling.”

Speaking more about LeBron James playing with his eldest son in the NBA, JJ Redick said:

“That moment taught us two things. The first is LeBron’s insane tenacity, coupled with his ability to play at a high level, still with fire even in his 22nd season.

Secondly, Bronny personally, what he has been through and what he has developed to get to this position. From my perspective, Bronny is a great young man, works hard and always brings positive energy.”

After sitting out the game against the Timberwolves two days ago, this is LeBron James’ first game in the 2024-25 NBA preseason.

“The King” and Anthony Davis soon showed overwhelming strength, delivering a comprehensive offensive and defensive performance to help the Los Angeles Lakers take the initiative against the Phoenix Suns.

As for Bronny James, the young player entered the field at the beginning of the second half after having 2 points and 1 assist in the previous match. This time, Bronny played 13 minutes and did not score any points. LeBron James alone had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 16 minutes on the field.
