During his professional basketball career, LeBron James has been the owner of many records in the NBA. The 39-year-old superstar has just conquered a new record when he became the first basketball player in NBA history to conquer 40,000 points throughout his career.
LeBron’s 40,000th point was a left-handed layup early in the second half of the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the defending champion Denver Nuggets on March 3. In that situation, LeBron got past Michael Porter Jr. with his signature pivot and finished successfully.
In a match against the Denver Nuggets, LeBron James’s Laker lost 124-114. LeBron James contributed 26 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists, but that was not enough to bring victory to the home team.

“Being the first player to score 40,000 points is a great thing for me in this league. You just know the history, you know the greats of the past. The most important thing is always winning, I hate to set a record in a loss. We played a good game, but we couldn’t finish with a win. So I’m feeling bittersweet, but I enjoyed every moment on the floor” – LeBron James said regretfully.
After the game, Lakers coach Darvin Ham said: “Happy for him. It’s a great accomplishment. I wish we could have won this game. But I have respect for LeBron James. It’s amazing, LeBron’s incredible run continues to this day.”
