Liv Morgan believes that her current championship reign is in a whole different league compared to her first title reign.
In July 2022, Morgan managed to keep the Women’s Money in the Bank record untarnished by successfully cashing in the briefcase on Ronda Rousey the same night that she won it to become the new Women’s Champion. Holding the title for 97 days, Morgan lost the tile back to Rousey in an Extreme Rules match at the PLE of the same name later that year.
Jumping to the present day, Morgan’s Women’s World Championship reign has played out significantly differently compared to 2 years ago. Defeating Becky Lynch to win the title, Morgan has already surpassed her maiden reign and has retained the title against Rhea Ripley twice. Speaking at the Bad Blood press conference following the victory, Morgan stated that while 2022 was unbelievable, 2024 was her destiny:
“I am levels and levels and levels and levels above where I was when I beat Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. I was over the moon, I couldn’t believe it. When I won this women’s world championship this time, I knew it, I felt it. It was exactly what it was supposed to be, the Liv Morgan Revenge Tour.
Do you understand how it feels to say something, and no one believes that you’re gonna do what you say? Not even Rhea believed that I was gonna do it. I told her to her face, ‘I’m gonna take everything that you love, and she still didn’t believe me. Now look, I have my championship, I have my boyfriend, Daddy Dom, and I have my family, the Judgment Day.”
Following a successful retention over Ripley thanks to an assist from a returning Raquel Gonzalez, Morgan is next set to face WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax at Crown Jewel in a champion vs. champion match in Saudi Arabia.
Following the press conference, Liv Morgan appeared at a signing and pitched a dream match at SummerSlam that would also feature CM Punk.
