This is a worthy reward for Maria Sharapova’s contributions to the world of tennis during her nearly 20-year career.
“Russian Doll” Maria Sharapova will be inducted into the World Tennis Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Newport, Rhode Island (USA) on August 23, 2025.
The International Tennis Hall of Fame is a place to honor individuals who have made important contributions to the development of this sport, a great honor for any tennis player. Masha and Bryan twins: Bob and Mike will be honored at the ceremony taking place next year.
“I am incredibly grateful to receive this honor. Thank you so much to the Hall of Fame and to the voters. Most importantly, this recognition is a beautiful reminder of the deep gratitude I have for my fans. Each of you has helped me reach the top and look at what we have achieved together,” Sharapova shared on her X page (formerly her personal Twitter).
During her playing days, Maria Sharapova was the most beloved and controversial tennis player. Masha is one of the rare 10 players to have won all 4 Grand Slams (Australian Open, Roland Garros, US Open, Wimbledon) in her career; was the first Russian female tennis player to be ranked No. 1 in the world in 2005; won the WTA Finals, won a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics, and many other notable achievements.
Sharapova is also known for her extremely outstanding beauty, nicknamed “Russian Doll” and famous for her famous scream every time she competes. However, Masha’s glorious career was severely affected by the doping scandal in 2016, which resulted in her being banned from competing for 15 months.
At present, Maria Sharapova is a businesswoman with a huge fortune. She still follows the developments of the world tennis village, often appearing in the stands of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year – US Open.
