The Motor City Machine Guns (MCMG), comprised of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, have officially debuted for WWE. They won a tag team contender’s match on SmackDown in their WWE debut and after the show, discussed how making it to WWE has been a 20-year journey. It’s something they don’t take for granted and they thanked fans for sticking with them.
WWE Is Pushing Motor City Machine Guns Early
Announced as new signings by WWE General Manager Nick Aldis on this week’s SmackDown, the duo wasted no time in making an impact. They competed in a thrilling triple-threat match against Los Garzas (Angel & Berto) and A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller). The MCMG emerged victorious, setting the stage for a wild matchup next week against DIY.
The duo spoke about their SmackDown debuted in an exclusive WWE video interview with Bryon Saxton and claimed they would be the next WWE Tag Team Champions.
Following their impressive debut, Sabin and Shelley shared their thoughts on their arrival during the SmackDown LowDown. “It’s pretty surreal,” Sabin expressed. He added:
“I’d like to say it’s a dream come true, but it’s more than that. It’s a goal accomplished for us. It might have taken over 20 years to get here, and being one match away from being the #1 contender for the WWE Tag Team Championship? That’s pretty crazy.”
“We take things one step at a time, but DIY is exactly why we came to WWE. We want to declare ourselves the best tag team on the planet, and I apologize to you in advance, DIY, but you’re looking at the next WWE Tag Team Champions.”
Roman Reigns tried to make nice with Jey Uso, but wound up getting taken out by the New Bloodline again.
In a heartfelt tweet, Sabin reflected on their journey, stating, “MCMG are WWE Superstars. The journey started in 2006 with many highs and lows along the way. From being struggling tag team artists working to prove ourselves to inspiring and innovating an entire generation of tag team wrestling, everything has led to this. Thank you.”
Next week, the Motor City Machine Guns will face DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) in a highly anticipated dream match that promises to be a showcase of elite tag team wrestling. If they become the next No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles it shows that WWE sees big things for the team and plans to push them heavily out of the gate.
