WWE Hall Of Famer Nikki Bella’s journey through love has been anything but smooth, from her highly publicized relationship with John Cena to her whirlwind romance and marriage with Artem Chigvintsev. The couple’s relationship came to an end when Artem was arrested for domestic violence in August 2024. However, in a recent development, authorities decided not to charge Artem following their investigation.
Nikki Bella (real name, Nikki Garcia) recently filed for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev following an incident in late August 2024. Artem was arrested on August 29 on suspicion of felony domestic violence after calling 911 and later canceling the request, but police still responded.
They observed visible injuries on Nikki, which led to Artem’s arrest. Nikki filed for divorce on September 11, 2024, after two years of marriage. The couple, who have a 4-year-old son, had reportedly been struggling, and the domestic incident appears to have been a major turning point in their relationship.
It appears that Chigvintsev will not face charges related to the domestic violence incident involving Nikki Bella. Following an investigation by the Napa County Sheriff’s Department, authorities decided not to pursue charges against Artem. Napa County had this to say regarding Chigvintsev’s situation:
While we take every arrest seriously and stand firmly against domestic violence, we have an ethical obligation to only file charges when supported by the evidence. […] We are required to prove any and every criminal charge ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ which is the highest standard in the American criminal justice system. If the available evidence doesn’t rise to this level of proof, then we cannot ethically file charges.
What Comes Next For Nikki Bella?
Despite Artem Chigvintsev’s initial arrest in August for felony domestic violence, the case has been dropped, and no further legal action is being taken. Nikki is reportedly seeking full custody of their 4-year-old son, Matteo, while Chigvintsev has requested joint custody as well as spousal support.
It’s never wise to speculate without having all the details, but it’s safe to say that Nikki simply wants to put this ordeal behind her by not following up with any charges. She’s likely doing what’s best for her son and herself, and her privacy should be respected during this difficult time.
In a statement to E! News, Chigvintsev released a statement regarding the incident and his future plans:
“I am incredibly relieved and grateful that the domestic violence charges against me have been dropped. This has been an extremely difficult time for me. I am thankful that the truth has prevailed.”
When speaking about his son Matteo, Chigvintsev said this:
“He is my world, and being his father is the greatest blessing in my life. All along, my main concern has been for him. I am committed to continuing to provide him with the love, support, and care he needs as we move forward. I am hopeful that securing an equal custody arrangement will help us move on. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and legal team for standing by me during this challenging time. Your support has been invaluable, and I am thankful to everyone who believed in me and saw the truth for what it was.”
