Paige Lorenze Shuts Down Criticism Over Absence During Boyfriend Tommy Paul’s Stockholm Open Victory

Tommy Paul’s girlfriend Paige Lorenze issued a blunt response after being mocked by a troll following Paul’s triumph at the 2024 Stockholm Open. Lorenze also proudly celebrated her partner’s glory.

Tommy Paul, who clinched his maiden ATP title in Stockholm in 2021, emerged victorious at the ATP 250 event yet again on Sunday, October 20. After his wins over Laslo Djere, Miomir Kecmanovic, and Stan Wawrinka, the American beat 2013 champion Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-3 to lift the trophy. This was his fourth career title and third of the season, after the Dallas Open and the Queen’s Club Championships.

Interestingly, during both his previous two victories, Paul enjoyed his girlfriend Paige Lorenze’s support. At the ATP 250 in Dallas, the social media influencer and businesswoman made a last-minute appearance and adorably posed with him during the champion’s photoshoot.

Lorenze received immense backlash after she did the same at the Queen’s Club Championships. Many fans accused her of trying to steal the limelight. Others expressed their distaste when Lorenze posed for pictures, placing her hand on Tommy Paul’s neck.

The influencer was conspicuous by her absence in Stockholm, though. Following Paul’s win, a troll questioned her no-show while bringing up past controversy.

“Why’s your bird not clinging on to your neck,” the troll wrote under Paul’s Instagram post.

Paige Lorenze clapped back with a sarcastic response.

“I would if I was there,” she wrote, adding a smiley heart emoji.

Paul’s partner celebrated his victory from afar this time, showcasing her love for the tennis player on social media.

“So proud of you,” she said as he clinched the Stockholm Open.

Tommy Paul reclaimed his career-high ranking of World No. 12 following his win at the 2024 Stockholm Open. However, when asked about how he plans to celebrate his remarkable feat, the American clarified that he would be keeping the celebrations low-key.

“Probably nothing too crazy. I’ve got to play again in two days,” he said in his post-match press conference.

Paul is set to compete at the 2024 Erste Bank Open in Vienna next (October 21-27). He has drawn compatriot Brandon Nakashima in the opening round.

“It’s a pretty quick turnaround from tournament to tournament. I’ve got to fly tomorrow and try and strike some balls in Vienna before playing on Tuesday,” he said.

The 27-year-old, however, said he would chug a couple of beers to commemorate his triumph before shifting his focus to the ATP 500 event.

“I’ve got to keep my mind right for that stuff. That being said I’m definitely gonna throw back a couple of beers tonight.”
