“Requires Surgery to Repair”: Josh Giddey’s Update on Painful Injury Leaves NBA Fans Worried

Josh Giddey, the Australian basketball star, revealed a huge secret on Monday. During the Bulls’ media day, Josh told the press that he had been injured since the Paris Olympics. He said, “We thought it was just a regular ankle [sprain] at the time, but flew back to Melbourne, got scans, and they kind of confirmed that. It’s getting better, it’s getting to the point where I’m almost back out there. But we’re taking it slow.” Josh and the team confirmed that the injury was much worse than they thought. However, he is recovering and could soon be back on the court.

Going further into details about the injury, Giddey said, “I ruptured my ATFL”. Josh has been sidelined for the past two months due to the same issue. Known for his exceptional passing ability and standing at 6’8″, Josh is also a strong rebounder for his team. Bulls fans will love to see him in the red and white jersey soon. He just made a move to Chicago after spending three seasons with the OKC. The Thunder’s GM had some other plans for the player’s future.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti told Giddey after the season that the team envisioned using him as a reserve in 2024-25 “to maximize his many talents and deploy our team more efficiently over 48 minutes.” Presti envisioned Giddey making a significant impact off the bench, but Giddey had different ideas and chose to take his talents elsewhere. Despite a dip in his numbers during his third season, Giddey remains a valuable asset, which was evident during his impressive performance at the Olympics.

K.C. Johnson has reported on the injury and quoted Josh Giddey in his tweet. Breaking the news to Bulls fans who had a lot to say regarding the injury. Fans have been vocal about their emotions, expressing concern and sharing their thoughts on Josh Giddey’s injury.

Even though the injury sustained by Josh is very concerning, he is on his path to recovery and could be healthy before the start of the season. However, fans are really worried as the Bulls have a long history of injuries.

With the news breaking about Josh Giddey’s injury. Josh has suffered a rupture in his ATFL ligament. This is a very serious injury and raised the same concern from one fan who said, “That’s a horrible injury. That requires surgery to repair and that’s a good 4-6 months probably”. The fan understood the stature of the injury and provided an approximate of when Josh could make a return to the game. Not many of us know but an ATFL tear is very painful and sometimes requires surgery and months to heal.

The injury has sent the fans into worry mode and they are worried that the new Bulls star will be out for the season. As one fan said, “Bummer — out for the season.” The fans feel it might take a while for him to recover.

Fans have been left wondering if Josh will be playing this season or not? as a fan asked the same question saying “So he’s not playing?”. Josh might be playing soon as stated but the fans are in a state of panic after hearing the news.

Some fans are even going as far as to blame Michael Jordan for this injury by saying “Jordan cursed us”. The comment alluded to fan theories suggesting that a Michael Jordan “curse” may be behind the long list of injuries affecting Bulls players. With major injuries happening to many Bulls players, it has become somewhat of a trend in the windy city, a painful one.

One fan was left in total despair as he said “It’s over,” about the Bulls season as injuries have been haunting them for many years. As the fans believe it can hamper the player’s game. This could be the case but we’ll have to wait and see.

The news of Josh Giddey’s injury has taken X by storm and caused worry for the Bulls fans. But, Giddey is reportedly on the way towards recovery. The lights are still not out for the Bulls with regards to Giddey, they still have hope.
